Japan–Thailand Space Industry Forum Held

On Monday, March 16, the Japan–Thailand Space Industry Forum was held in Bangkok, the Kingdom of Thailand. It was hosted by the Embassy of Japan in Thailand and supported by the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) of Thailand. Attending the forum from Japan was Mr. Hatada Hiroyuki, Deputy Director-General, Manufacturing Industries Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and from Thailand, Mr. Punpermsak Aruni, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), along with other participants. In addition, a meeting was held between the two sides, during which views were exchanged toward the development of the space industry in both countries.

During the forum, with approximately 200 participants in attendance, public- and private-sector stakeholders involved in the space industry from both Japan and Thailand took the stage to deliver presentations on their respective initiatives and to engage in panel discussions.
From the Japanese side, it was noted that, to date, mutual benefits for both Japan and Thailand have been realized by supporting Japanese companies through initiatives undertaken in collaboration with the Thai government and companies in the space industry, and expectations were also expressed that, going forward, new business proposals and opportunities for cooperation beneficial to both countries would continue to expand.
