Founded in 2011, the Friends of Wadi Rum are a group of individuals comprised of camp owners, desert lovers, artists, photographers, horse-people, camel people, business people, students and teachers. We represent men and women, youth and experience, east, west, north, south and 7 different nationalities. We all share a commitment to responsible, intentional enjoyment of Wadi Rum's desert environment through the creation of events suited to the desert and its traditions and through the provision of accommodation suitable for any guest. The Friends of Wadi Rum is a community network. Through our activities, we are committed to generating economic, educational, environmental, social and spiritual profit for our membership and for our community. Friends of Wadi Rum is an inclusive, rather than exclusive organization that welcomes individuals from all walks of life and from everywhere. We are thrilled to meet with anyone who feels a connection to this incredible place. We seek to promote events in and around the Wadi Rum Protected Area with the aim of benefiting the human community, while maintaining the natural beauty of the area and the integrity of its historic sites. By promoting Wadi Rum into a more wide spread audience we hope to carry forth a legacy of respect for the environment and the community for generations to come.
