From garden to table.

Banana shoots, also known as **banana blossoms** or **banana hearts**, are the edible, tender flower buds that grow at the end of a banana cluster. They are a common ingredient in many Asian, Southeast Asian, and Indian cuisines.

The banana shoot has a purplish, bulbous appearance when it’s fresh, and inside, the flowers are surrounded by layers of soft, edible petals and a tender heart. These shoots are rich in fiber, antioxidants, and essential nutrients.

To prepare banana shoots for cooking, they are typically cleaned, peeled to remove the outer tough layers, and then sliced. Often, they need to be soaked in water with a bit of salt or vinegar to reduce their bitterness and prevent browning. In many dishes, banana shoots are used in curries, salads, stir-fries, and soups. In some regions, they are also pickled or added to savory dishes as a vegetable.

In addition to their culinary use, banana shoots are also believed to have several health benefits. They are known to promote digestion, support kidney health, and even help with weight management due to their high fiber content.
