Following a significant seizure of illegal fi****ms by the Jamaica Constabulary Force last week, the police have formally charged a Kingston man in connection with the seizure of 14 fi****ms and 57 rounds of ammunition on Deeside Avenue, Kingston 10, on Wednesday, May 28.

Charged is 38-year-old Lamar Douglas, otherwise called ‘Joe’, of Patrick City, Kingston 20. He was charged today - June 4, while in police custody.

Reports are that personnel assigned to the Fi****ms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) were on operation when 14 fi****ms, 12 magazines and 57 rounds of ammunition were found. Douglas, who was out on bail in relation to another case, was arrested following the seizure.

He has been charged with:
● Possession of Prohibited Weapon (19 counts)
● Dealing in Prohibited Weapon
● Trafficking Prohibited Weapon
● Stockpiling Prohibited Weapon
● Conspiracy to Traffic Prohibited Weapon
● Conspiracy to Deal in Prohibited Weapon
● Conspiracy to Stockpile Prohibited Weapon

The police are seeking the public’s assistance to find another suspect - Julian McLeish, who evaded the police during the operation. Julian McLeish is urged to turn himself in to the police immediately.

Director of FNID, Acting Senior Superintendent of Police Patrae Rowe, commended the team for their bravery and diligence in disrupting the movement of illegal fi****ms.

“Our work continues in dismantling criminal syndicates, securing our points of entry, and ensuring that illegal weapons are removed from our streets,” said Acting SSP Patrae Rowe. “We are going after the guns with the help of our partners, and we will find them wherever they are,” he added.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Julian McLeish is urged to contact FNID at 876-876-923-6184, the National Intelligence Bureau at 811, Crime Stop at 311 or the nearest police station.
