Jamaica Orchid Society The JOS meets on the first Saturday of each month at 4.00 pm at the JHS Hall, 1 Gibson Drive, Kgn 6. Visitors are always welcome at our meetings.

Our monthly meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month at the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Union's Building, 1a Hope Boulevard, Hope Pastures, Kingston 6 at 4.00 pm. At our monthly meetings we try to keep business related matters to a minimum and focus on discussing orchid growing, hybridizing and exhibition matters. Members are encouraged to bring plants in bloom to the meetings for

exhibition, evaluation and discussion. Plants exhibited are recognised as follows:
Best New Member's Plants (open to members of less than 1 year)
Best Jamaica Species
Best Foreign Species
Best Orchid

Some snapshots of the JOS exhibit at the Ocho Rios Orchid Society show being held today. The exhibit won the trophy for the 'Best Exhibit by a Sister Society' as well as several sectional trophies; Best Oncidium, Best Psychopsis, Best Rhyncostylis, Best Vanda, Best Renanthera, Best Cattleya and Best Brassavola. Many thanks to the usual few members (Opal Wilson Nicole Simmons, Betty Chung, Kirk Hoo , Andrew Woods , Richard Phillips, and Victoria Pommells) who contributed plants for the exhibit!
