Today is a day of great pride for Jamaica and the wider Caribbean! 🇯🇲🙌

We are celebrating the opening of the 61Venice Biennaleale and the inclusion of the outstanding Ebony G. Patterson in the Central Pavilion.

In the art world, being invited to show in the Central Pavilion is an elite honor, and Ebony is representing us with incredible grace and power.

Ebony is showing at the opening exhibition “In Minor Keys,” curated by the late Koyo Kouoh, who described the participating artists as those who build "universes of imagination."

Ebony’s work is famously detailed and deeply layered, forcing us to look closer at issues of class, gender, and youth culture.

Born in Kingston, trained Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Artsrts she works between Jamaica and Chicago. Ebony remains one of our most vital visual voices.

Please join us in celebrating this monumental achievement for Caribbean excellence! ??✨

Big news from Venice! 🇮🇹🎨

The ABIRAC Contemporary Caribbean Art Foundation is officially launching at the Venice Biennale this week!

Our founder and executive director, Olayinka Jacobs- Bonnick, is on the Board of ABIRAC and we could not be prouder to support this initiative!

If you are in town for the opening, please join ABIRAC for a vital conversation: “Our Boats Are Open: Reclaiming Art Narratives of the Caribbean.”

This panel brings together leading voices to explore identity, diaspora, and the power of Caribbean storytelling. It’s all about reclaiming our narratives and building a sustainable art ecosystem for the 300+ million people across the Greater Caribbean.

The foundation is the brainchild of the indefatigable Ziggi Golding her vision and energy in bringing this to life have been nothing short of inspiring.

When: 7 May | 11:30–14:00 Where: Sala Vivendi, Cultural Center Don Orione Artigianelli (Dorsoduro 909/A)

Come through, support the movement, and let’s celebrate Caribbean art on the global stage! 🇯🇲🇧🇧????🇭🇹????

After several years of quiet, South South Collective is reopening this space.

South South Collective was created to connect cultural leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and institutions working to strengthen the creative economy across the Global South.

Over the past 5 years, our founder was serving within the international system, supporting cultural policy and creative industries development across multiple regions. During that time, the Collective intentionally stepped back from public activity.

Now, the next chapter begins.

In the months ahead, we will be sharing new collaborations, research, and opportunities for dialogue around cultural policy, creative industries, and South–South exchange.

We are also beginning preparations for the next edition of the International Creative Exchange Caribben (ICEC) — a platform that brings together policymakers, investors, cultural leaders, and entrepreneurs shaping the future of the creative economy.

If you’ve been part of this journey before, welcome back.

If you’re discovering us for the first time, welcome!

The work continues.
