This week, we've been celebrating our wonderful volunteers for National Volunteer's Week!

We would like to send a huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers who week after week, year and year, show up for our clients to help them attend their activities and social and art groups.

We quite simply couldn’t offer what we do, without them! And we think you will all join us in agreeing that they enrich our lives here at the EYECAN community. Thank you.

For some time now, we have been working with the States Greffe / Vote.je, who have been working hard to ensure islanders living with sight loss can access the forthcoming election materials.

Together with our partners at BDO Jersey, we hosted an informative session to explain this first-hand to EYECAN clients.

On EYECAN's website, you can now find audio recordings of manifestos and literature produced by the States Greffe. (link below)

We would also like to give a huge shout out to EYECAN client Johannes, who supported this work by producing a quantity of CDs which contain the audio recordings produced by the Greffe - if you or your loved one requires a disk copy of the manifesto audios, please get intouch with EYECAN, details below.

We're really excited to share that EYECAN has been nominated as Dunell's’ charity for 2026 & 2027.

To support the work EYECAN does, Dunells’ have curated a case of 6 wines, named ‘The EYECAN Case’, and 10% of all sales from this case will be donated to EYECAN to help us continue to support islanders living with sight loss.

We’re delighted to share that we’ve been chosen to host a visit from Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, to EYECAN during her visit to Jersey this June!

“The programme will conclude the following day with a visit to EYECAN, the charity which works to support Islanders with sight impairment and is marking its 140th anniversary.”

A ROYAL visit has been confirmed for the last week of June, when Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, will make a two-day visit to the Island. The Duchess will carry out a series of engagements in connection to her roles with an organisation promoting sustainable food and farming, as well as two charities....

A very special visitor last week at EYECAN. Guide dog Nan was off duty from her guiding, and came in to help supervise us in the office. 17/10 best staff (we hope you enjoyed your pats, Nan)

What a privilege to host Jean Carter back to Westlea, reminiscing and learning more about Jean’s time working and supporting the Jersey Blind Society (Now EYECAN).

Jean retired from the charity nearly 20 years ago following 15 years of dedicated service. Thank you Jean for reconnecting. There will always be a cup of tea whenever you are passing.
