For our 4th September You and EYE, we will be joined by officers from Income Support and Pensions, who will be available to discuss optical special payments, and pension plus scheme.

They will be happy to answer any questions privately that you might have, and offer support and guidance.

We welcome all islanders living with sight loss to our You and EYE drop in sessions. Come along for a hot drink and some biscuits, and meet other islanders living with sight loss.

EYECAN’s first Heritage Club outing was a resounding success!

Many thanks to Vincent Obbard, the Seigneur of Samares Manor, for showing us around his home and explaining his family history to an enthralled audience.

As a young woman in the 1920s, his mother explored Africa in a Rolls Royce with only her chauffeur and a maid for company. Vincent showed us the gun she took along for protection, along with fascinating souvenirs she brought back and a photo of her taken with pygmies in the Congo.

Everyone who attended had a lovely time.

The group was also ably supported by Pete Howard from Jersey Tourist Guides, whilst delicious cakes baked by Maria from Rozel tea room rounded off the outing nicely.

We would also like to extend a big thank you to Channel Islands Co-operative for helping to support this new club!

Everyone had a lovely time.

What a fantastic evening!

We're absolutely thrilled to share that the launch of the Western Miniature Rifle Club's new air rifles, which are adapted for users with sight loss to listen to audio feedback to locate the bullseye, was a huge success!

EYECAN was invited to the launch in partnership with the Rifle Club, and we were joined by a small number of our clients who were the first on the island to try out this exciting new equipment!

For a few of our clients who attended, this activity was a was a first-time opportunity.

Western Rifle Club Vice-President, Jerry Hart, said: “It was wonderful to welcome islanders living with sight loss to the club and give them the opportunity to experience target shooting for themselves. The adapted equipment makes such a difference, allowing people with visual impairments to take part in the sport independently and competitively.”

EYECAN CEO, Mark Coxshall, said: "For Jersey this is a great example of a local club wanting to grow inclusivity and engage an array of partners, including EYECAN, to make that happen. It was a fantastic evening and great to see our clients do so well.”

We want to share a big thank you to everyone at the Rifle Club for such a brilliant evening.

Islanders living with sight loss are being welcomed to join the Western Miniature Rifle Club to try their new equipment, for more information please contact the Rifle Club on [email protected] or EYECAN on [email protected]
