📌Following the meeting held at the Institute's headquarters in Sanremo in September 2025, the Group of Experts reconvened in Singapore with renewed momentum and under the guidance of a strengthened Steering Committee, which included among others, the Norwegian Red Cross, the ICRC and the Sanremo Institute.

The Singapore meeting represented a further important step in the ongoing process of updating the Sanremo Manual on International Law Applicable to Armed Conflicts at Sea, with a view to ensuring that it remains relevant in light of developments in military operations, emerging technologies and evolving State practice and interpretations of IHL.

🌍The meeting provided an opportunity for the Group of Experts to further examine and exchange views on the key issues, while also strengthening dialogue and cooperation among the institutions involved in the process.

⚓The updating process will therefore continue through broad international and multidisciplinary consultation, with the aim of developing an updated and authoritative instrument to support the application of International Law in maritime operations.
