The rehearsals are almost finished, the international play "Le tre corone" is ready to go on stage soon at the Rencontres du Jeune Théâtre Européen starting today in Grenoble.
The play is based on a tale by G. Basile and tells the story of a young girl cursed from birth, who longs to be free of her unfortunate destiny. However, her quest for freedom only brings her trouble... Will she be free at last? It depends on what freedom really means, especially if you're a woman.
Staged in 2019 by Alberto Ferraro before the pandemic with a group of actors coming from Poland, France, Spain and Italy, the play has rested almost 3 years forcefully, awaiting better times. In 2022, it has finally been re-staged, but in no more than a week. As last-minute changes had to be made to the original distribution, it has been a real tour de force that would not have been possible without the long history and deep trust that the actors and Alberto share.
The play this year is accompanied by the wonderful musicians Simone Pistis and Fiona Feeley who hopped on board just recently but it feels like they have been with us forever.
The outcome of this crazy yet beautiful challenge will be on stage in Grenoble at Théâtre Prémol on Sunday 3 July at 16.30.
