🌊 EcoeFISHent on stage in Camogli.

Last night the Festival della Comunicazione hosted the screening of "Elia: un racconto di mare per il mare", the Christian Olcese and Edoardo Nervi’s documentary that also features EcoeFISHent and interviews with several of our partners.

After the film, Prof. Raffaella Boggia and Prof. Elena Grasselli from Università di Genova brought the project to the audience: how fish side-streams can become packaging, cosmetics, nutraceuticals and fertilisers instead of waste.

A full terrace, and a lot of good questions. Thanks to Festival della Comunicazione and Università di Genova for the stage.

During the Sagra del Bagnun in Riva Trigoso, Ecoefishent took part in a dedicated event to present the project and promote sustainable fishing practices through the Fishing for Litter initiative.

Our Augusto Comes, from GESTIMAR, presented the project to an audience of institutional representatives and stakeholders from the fisheries sector.

The event also featured “Pescaimparo”, an educational workshop led by fisherman and trainer Luigi Sartor, focusing on fishing waste management and sustainability.

Together for cleaner seas and a more sustainable future. 🌊♻️

📍 Limassol, Cyprus, our 2nd Replicability Workshop "From Fish to Food & Packaging" has successfully brought together key stakeholders from the Cypriot Blue Economy ecosystem.

Hosted at the Limassol Municipality Blue Innovation Centre and organised by EBN - European Business & Innovation Centre Network together with EU|BIC ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence and EU|BIC CYRIC | Cyprus Research & Innovation Center Ltd., the workshop created a valuable space for dialogue on circular innovation and cross-regional collaboration.

Around the table: FILSE SpA - Finanziaria Ligure per lo Sviluppo Economico (project coordinator), Università degli Studi di Genova, Proplast and Project HUB-360, working alongside local stakeholders to explore the potential of replicating the EcoeFISHent circular cluster model in Cyprus. ♻️

The discussions focused on nutraceutical, cosmetic and bioplastic packaging value chains, highlighting opportunities to transform fish processing by-products into high-value bio-based solutions.

Two workshops down, one more to go. Together, we're building stronger connections for a more circular and sustainable Blue Economy.

Our 2nd Replicability Workshop "From Fish to Food & Packaging" will be hosted at the Limassol Municipality Blue Innovation Centre, organised by EBN together with EU|BIC ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence and EU|BIC CyRIC | Cyprus Research & Innovation Center Ltd.

Around the table: FILSE (project coordinator), University of Genoa, Proplast and Project HUB-360, meeting key actors of the Cypriot Blue Economy ecosystem. ♻️

🐟 Tradition meets sustainability at the Sagra del Bagnùn
On Saturday 18 July, EcoeFISHent joins the 66th edition of the Sagra del Bagnùn in Riva Trigoso with the "Fishing for Litter" initiative.
Fishing for Litter turns fishing activities into a concrete opportunity to protect the marine environment: waste accidentally caught at sea is brought back to shore and properly managed, instead of being left behind.
A dedicated space with a video and information materials will be open to citizens and visitors.

For three weeks, Mercedes Alonso Martínez, researcher at ANFACO-CECOPESCA, joined our Ecoefishent Università di Genova (DISTAV) team to evaluate the efficacy of Nofima hydrolysed permeate protein fraction for its use in the final cosmetic formulation. Together with Elena Grasselli’s team, she investigated its ability to protect skin cells from UV-induced damage. Another great example of collaborative research supporting the valorisation of fish side-streams and the development of safe, sustainable cosmetic ingredients within the circular and blue economy.
