In 2007, at the Valencia circuit, James Thompson and the N.Technology team wrote one of the most epic chapters in WTCC history. Behind the wheel of the aging Alfa Romeo 156, the British driver achieved the extraordinary feat of claiming a stunning weekend sweep. After dominating Race 1 from the front row, Thompson had to start Race 2 from eighth position due to the reverse-grid rule.

Delivering an aggressive, spectacular, and flawless drive, he carved his way through the field, overtaking champions like Yvan Muller and Andy Priaulx. Once in the lead, he held off the pressure all the way to the checkered flag to complete a masterclass comeback.

This triumph was not only a tactical and driving masterpiece, but also the final unforgettable victory for the Alfa Romeo 156 in an FIA World Championship.

Tazio Nuvolari (1892-1953), known as "The Flying Mantuan," was one of the greatest racing drivers and motorcyclists of all time.

Famous for his daring driving style and for perfecting the power-slide technique, he tied his name to historic brands such as Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and Auto Union.
Among his most epic feats, his victory at the 1930 Mille Miglia stands out, achieved by overtaking his rival Achille Varzi in the dark with his headlights switched off just before the finish line. In 1935, he delivered his masterpiece at the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring circuit: behind the wheel of an outdated Alfa Romeo, he beat the overwhelming dominance of the unbeatable German Mercedes and Auto Union cars against all odds and in front of their home crowd.

Renowned for his incredible tenacity, he was capable of driving even while wearing a plaster cast or without a steering wheel, using only a wrench just to avoid retiring. His figure has become an immortal symbol of audacity and pure passion, even inspiring famous popular songs. He passed away on August 11, 1953, leaving behind an unreachable legend that continues to fascinate motorsport enthusiasts around the world.

Today, 73 years after his passing, we remember him through these photos colorized thanks to artificial intelligence.

8C Scalabroni Barchetta

Designed by engineer Enrique Scalabroni (ex-Ferrari/Williams F1), this is a special handcrafted high-performance car built on a tubular chassis and powered by a potent Alfa Romeo V8 engine. Created as a modern homage to classic race barchettas, it features an essential aluminum and carbon-fiber body stripped of a windshield, doors, and traditional comforts. With a featherlight weight and aggressive aerodynamic setup, this one-off creation was built purely for track use. It stands as one of the rarest, purest, and most radical custom interpretations ever built around 8C components.

Castagna Vittoria

Unveiled at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show, the Vittoria is a one-off coachbuilt car created to mark the revival of Milan's historic Carrozzeria Castagna. Built on the mechanical platform of the Alfa Romeo 75, it housed the legendary 3.0-liter V6 "Busso" engine tuned to roughly 255 hp. The bodywork featured a futuristic, angular design hand-beaten in aluminum over composite structures, paired with a luxurious wood and leather interior. Having covered barely two thousand kilometers, it remains one of the most extravagant and sought-after 1990s concepts for collectors.

Giulia "Severtail" (Carrozzeria Casale)

The "Severtail" (literally coda tronca or truncated tail) was an original coachbuilt creation built in 1967 by the artisan Carrozzeria Casale of Turin on an Alfa Romeo Giulia base. The car was designed applying the principles of Kammback aerodynamics to reduce turbulence at high speeds. It stood out for its sloping roofline terminating in a sharp, abrupt rear end that contrasted sharply with standard factory models. Produced as an extremely rare coachbuilt design study, it remains an elusive an

The 1958 Coupe des Alpes is remembered as one of the most extreme editions of the famous French Alpine rally, contested over nearly 4,000 kilometers of mountain passes amid harsh weather conditions and a relentless race pace.

To immortalize such a memorable event, the Shell oil company produced a famous documentary film titled "Coupe des Alpes". The film, featuring dynamic and spectacular direction for 1950s standards, captured stunning footage of cars hurtling along the edge of abysses high in the Alpine peaks.

Accompanied by the unmistakable roar of the Giulietta in the background, Shell's short film became a cult classic, seamlessly blending Italian engineering, motorsport bravery, and great archival cinema.

In this reel, you can see the opening of the docufilm featuring none other than the legendary Giulietta...
