WHO ARE WE AND Why WERE WE Founded? Family and Child Protection Organization (FCPO) nonprofit, independent humanitarian, protection and development organization, established in the second part of 2019, by great experiment founders who believe there is a huge gap in the field of humanitarian services because of many men made crisis, internal and external conflicts which in the country
as well as the region, such crisis led to enormous number of internal displaced people and refugees from the neighborhoods to settle down in the Kurdistan region of Iraq KRG. As a result the crisis affected all families’ life as well as vulnerable such as women, children and youth. This was a great encouragement to think and step out and construct it. Family and Child Protection Organization (FCPO) is located in Kurdistan region of Iraq aiming at promoting equal rights for family members especially vulnerable populations such as women to ensure they have an active role in their community through enhancing their social, political, economic and cultural participation and provide humanitarian support through a multi-sectorial response to the youth and children crisis and challenges. Family and Child Protection Organization (FCPO) works to prevent and respond to GBV starting from the family to community, and provides survivors of GBV with social and psychological counseling, legal assistance, case management and advocates to increase women’s legal protection. FCPO envision a society in which women’s contribution to all aspects of life is recognized, rewarded and celebrated
FCPO has a vision to develop the capacity of KRG community, ministries, government employees (teachers and social workers), judges and police officers through facilitating a variety of trainings and workshops. FCPO has a vision of cooperation with authorities, religious leaders, judges and police officers for the purpose of providing support to family members especially children and women to support their rights and protection. FCPO is a reliable source of experience on gender based violence GBV, peace building and conflict resolution, equality between men and women and equality between all family members, enhancing child’s rights and women’s rights
FCPO cooperate with the humanitarian operators to effectively meet the needs of people in crisis, with a special attention to the vulnerable groups, such as women and children. It provides first aid, medical assistance, food and other basic needs. We ensure that the basic needs, as education, health, and clean water, are met. FCPO teams actively and successfully implement a comprehensive response ranging from protection, protection in emergency, gender based violence GBV and camp management activities. FCPO works in full coherence with the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: it does not make any difference or discrimination whatsoever based on race, gender, religious belief, nationality, ethnic origin or class of people who are in need of help.
