AVSI Iraq AVSI's presence and commitment in Iraq date back to 1991 with emergency health activities until 1996, and educational projects 2003-2006.

Arriving in Iraqi Kurdistan in 2014 to tackle one of today's most complex humanitarian crises, AVSI stands alongside Iraqi families displaced because of the war. AVSI aims to provide education for children, training for young students and support for adults. Our projects aim at:
- Strengthening the local economy of returnees, internally displaced persons and the hosting communities in Iraq
- Empow

ering the youth community through trainings and in-kind support to start their start-up businesses
- Child protection
- Providing education and supporting the education sector by rehabilitating schools
- Fostering social cohesion within the community
