Why the Karso Youth Organization Is Named “Karso”
Karso is an ancient word found in cuneiform inscriptions (𒄈𒋢𒆠). It referred to a gathering place, a point of transition, or a space where transformation begins. In Mesopotamian civilizations, names were never chosen randomly; each name carried meaning, and each meaning reflected a role in the life of the community.
Why did we choose “Karso”?
We selected this name because it embodies three essential concepts that reflect the core mission of our organization:
Transformation
Karso was known as a place where the journey of change began. Likewise, we believe that young people need a safe environment where they can reshape their lives, expand their thinking, and build their future.
Transition to a New Stage
Just as Karso once represented a point of passage, our organization aims to be the bridge that helps young people cross toward better opportunities, stronger skills, and deeper awareness.
Gathering and Collective Power
In ancient cultures, gathering places carried great social and symbolic value. Today, we believe that the true strength of youth appears when they come together, communicate, and collaborate.
Karso… an Ancient Name with a New Vision
We want the youth to feel connected to a rich history that spans thousands of years—and empowered to contribute to the creation of their own future. “Karso” is more than a name; it is a message that says:
“This is the starting point… and from here, change begins.”
