APST Re-Verification: ASBAC Issues Final Ultimatum to Chief Minister

ASBAC has issued a final ultimatum to the Chief Minister, calling for the Deputy Chief Minister to step down and be relieved of his responsibilities to ensure an independent, impartial and transparent investigation into the APST matter concerning him.

Millo Ambo, Member of the Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan Committee (ASBAC) and the High Power Committee on APST Re-Verification, briefed the media on the latest developments, deliberations and recommendations submitted before the Committee.

Ambo stressed that the APST re-verification process must remain completely free from political influence, with transparency, accountability and institutional integrity at its core.

He further emphasised that protecting the credibility of the re-verification process is essential to maintaining public trust and confidence in the APST system.

ASBAC maintains that a fair investigation requires complete independence from any potential conflict of interest or political influence.

Public Notice
The Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan Committee hereby informs the general public that no member of the committee is authorized to collect or accept donations in the name of the committee.

We firmly believe that accepting donations may create the perception that contributors could later expect relaxation, favors, or special consideration for their non-APST offspring, relatives, or any other individual. This is against the principles and policy of our committee.

The Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan Committee wishes to make it absolutely clear that no donation, contribution, or financial support will influence, interfere with, or prevent any lawful action undertaken by the committee.

We therefore earnestly appeal to the public not to give money or any form of donation to any individual claiming to represent the Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan Committee.

We sincerely appreciate your trust, support, and cooperation in maintaining the integrity and transparency of our movement.

Here is a concise summary of the 9-page memorandum submitted by the Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan Committee (ASTBAC) to the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh on May 22, 2026:

Core Objective: To protect the constitutional safeguards, indigenous identity, and demographic security of the genuine tribal people of Arunachal Pradesh against illegal infiltration and documentation fraud.

Key Demands:
1. APST Re-Verification: Immediate statewide verification of all Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) certificates using high-security, biometric-linked systems to eliminate fake lineage claims.
2. Non-APST Offspring Loopholes: Strict legal and administrative safeguards regarding inheritance, land rights, and tribal status for offspring of APST women married to non-APST individuals.

3. ILP Digitalization: A complete overhaul of the Arunachal Pradesh ILP Guidelines, 2026. This includes setting up a dedicated ILP Department, live QR/biometric tracking, and CCTV-monitored border checkposts.

4. Statewide Detection Drives: Establishing district-level verification committees (comprising administration, police, CBOs, and Gaon Burahs) to flag illegal infiltration and forged identity networks.

Ultimatum: The committee demands an official, live-telecasted consultative meeting with the government within 6 days. Failure to respond will compel indigenous organizations to launch intensified, peaceful public protest movements.
