NEET, CBSE, CUET: How Many More Failures Before Accountability?

SIO expresses deep concern over the continuing crises in India’s education system. After the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy, thousands of CBSE students have now reported discrepancies linked to the newly introduced digital evaluation system, including missing pages, blurred scans, and incorrect marking. At the same time, technical failures during CUET-UG 2026 disrupted examinations for thousands of candidates, forcing the NTA to announce a re-test for affected students. These are not isolated incidents but symptoms of a system marked by poor planning, administrative negligence, and a lack of accountability.

SIO believes that students cannot continue paying the price for administrative incompetence, policy failures, and the growing nexus of centralisation, commercialisation, and unaccountable governance in education. The repeated collapse of examination and evaluation systems has severely eroded public trust in the Ministry of Education. The Education Minister must take moral responsibility and resign immediately. India needs a transparent, accountable, and decentralised education system; not a centralised machinery of uncertainty that repeatedly sacrifices students’ futures.

NEET UG Paper Cancellation Once Again Exposes Credibility Crisis in NTA & Govt Examination System: SIO of India

SIO slams the developments surrounding the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 following serious allegations of a paper leak and the subsequent CBI probe. The reported circulation of questions before the examination and the cancellation of an exam attempted by more than 22 lakh students expose the complete collapse of credibility of the NTA and the Union Government’s examination system. Despite stringent anti-paper leak laws and repeated assurances after the NEET-UG 2024 controversy, authorities have once again failed to protect the integrity of one of India’s most important competitive examinations. For lakhs of students from poor and middle-class families, NEET represents years of sacrifice, sleepless nights, financial burden, and hope for a dignified future; not uncertainty created by administrative incompetence and organised corruption.

The repeated examination scandals across the country reveal that the crisis is structural, not accidental. Every cancellation and re-examination deepens the mental stress, anxiety, and insecurity faced by students while institutions continue to evade accountability. If the centralised examination system repeatedly fails despite massive resources and legal mechanisms, serious discussions on decentralising the examination process and restructuring the NTA have become unavoidable.The Education Minister must take moral responsibility and resign immediately.

SIO demands a transparent and time-bound investigation, strict punishment for all those involved in the leak network, and accountability from the NTA and the Union Government for repeated failures in conducting fair examinations. SIO stands firmly with the student community whose trust and future have once again been shattered.
