“ABAKSHAYA” a registered non-governmental organization has been working very hard for the people coming from the underprivileged sections of society in various stimulating ways since 1998 Since 1998, uttarghoshpara “ABAKSHAYA” a registered non-governmental organization has been working very hard for the people coming from the underprivileged sections of society in various stimulating ways. It star

ted its journey with a centre offering study materials and free educational assistance for poor schoolgoers [class vi to xii] at Narendrapally Shyamaprosad Bidyapeeth, Chakdaha. Currently 60 students belonging to the weaker social groups get access to the centre who do not have the financial strength to get access to the private tutors. For meeting the demands of the adolescents and children another centre of similar nature was formed at Jasra Gosain Colony, Chakdaha at 2002 which now functions with 60 pupils at Jasra Kalitala, Chakdaha. Programmes on contemporaray issues, workshops on free hand drawing with the little students, essay compertitions with the students affiliated to different secondary and higher secondary schools at chakdaha and its adjacent are also the very part of ourorganisation. Seven bilingual journals in name of ABAKSHAYA were published since our inception. The members have successfully organized annual programmes for distribution of clothes among the poor students and the mentally re****ed individuals for the last 14 years. Last year too, newly purchased clothing materials have been distributed among 130 students. The cloth-distribution programmes achieved new dimensions when on those occasions the visually disempowered friends of Anyadesh performed the dramatic compositions like Andhaprokriti Chandalika and Kaliyadaman in 2008 and 2009. The little theatre activists of Anyamon staged their theatrical production Alo in 2010 and the friends of Pathosena joined with their production Hottomelar Opare in 2011. We began a theatre workshop for our students in 2008 and out of the workshop emerged a theatrical production named Anya Prithibi in which our students demonstrated their potential. A two-day long theatre festival was jointly organized by Uttarghoshpara Abakshaya and Chakdaha Bijnan O Sanskritik Sanastha on January, 7 & 8, 2012 at Chakdaha which was actually a tribute to the legendary theatre personality Badal Sircar. Reputed publishers like Ababhas, Monfokira and Seriban joined the festival displaying and selling their books which caused sensation among the theatre-lovers of the locality. Our organisation took a new turn in 2006 when we managed ten poor women workers to get training in manufacturing of woolen and jute-based materials from the experts at Meghna Industries, Kalyani, Nadia and in that very year a self –help group named UNMEELAN was built up under the supervision of ABAKSHAYA. With the financial aid from United Bank of India, Chakdaha branch knitting machines were distributed among twelve women who were from economically disadvantageous position and now they are manufacturing wollen and jute-based materials after getting adequate training. After a few months the organization independently purchased two knitting machines for the purpose of training and more than 50 women have got free training from us. In June, 2006 a training camp for the manufacturing of woolen and jute-based goods was organized at Chakdaha and camps of similar nature continue to be organised throughout the year.

. The members of our organization rendered assistance to the flood-struck people of Chakdaha in 2000 and the following years. We collected money from our members and students to build up a fund for the Sunami-affected people in 2005 and sent it to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Since 2004 a charitable dispensary of ‘’ABAKSHAYA’’ has been actively functioning at Chakdaha in order to serve the poor people coming from different villages and corners of the town. From time to time different local clubs or the organizations have raised their supporting hands by donating copies pen pencil and other reading materials to our students. We do not believe in caste, creed or religion, we believe in humanity. People of same mentality from any fields can come forward and help us to fulfill our mission. At last we are grateful to those individuals or the clubs or the organizations who helped us in the previous years without whom we could not reach to the enlarged stage.
