A registered trust initially set up during the COVID-19 pandemic for the free-roaming dogs of Velim Fishing Jetty in Goa, India.

Following the lockdown we have continued to feed, medicate, rescue, foster, vaccinate and sterilise as many dogs as possible.

🐾 Colva Fish Market Feeding Programme 💛💚🧡

Feeding continues at Colva Fish Market, with encouraging signs of the new season already beginning to emerge. The early construction of the beach shacks is a welcome development, signalling that the return of tourists — and hopefully an abundance of food and affection for the community dogs — is just around the corner.

We are eagerly awaiting the opening of the first shacks of the season, but until then, PAALM will continue its regular feeding programme to ensure the dogs have access to food during this transitional period.

Once the season begins, our visits will continue throughout the year, allowing us to monitor the dogs closely, check for injuries or illness, and make sure they remain healthy and well cared for.

For PAALM, caring for these dogs is a year-round commitment. 🐾🧡💚💛

Yesterday, on World Rabies Day, one very special boy stole the show. 🧡🐾

Meet Benny. Ten years old, incredibly handsome, wonderfully gentle — and now officially a celebrity! ⭐

While PAALM founder Julie was busy with a full day of World Rabies Day events through her work with Mission Rabies India, Benny was by her side for it all.

He met countless people, happily greeted children, stood on stage, took part in the inauguration of the vaccination campaign and even had his own rabies vaccination to mark the occasion. Through it all, he simply took everything in his stride.

Because that's Benny, 💛

He loves people. He loves children. He doesn't mind crowds. And somehow, despite everything going on around him, he remains the calmest, sweetest boy.

But ten years ago, nobody knew if Benny would make it.

He was the very first dog Julie rescued when she came to Goa to begin her career with Mission Rabies. He was desperately sick, and Julie took him home thinking she would nurse him for a few days and make him comfortable before he passed away.

But Benny had other ideas. ❤️

With treatment, care and a whole lot of love, he survived.

And yesterday, ten years later, there he was — standing proudly on stage on World Rabies Day, surrounded by people, celebrating the very work that ultimately gave him his second chance at life.

From a desperately sick little dog who wasn't expected to survive… to a ten-year-old World Rabies Day celebrity.

Benny, you really are something special. 🧡

And yesterday, you reminded everyone that every life is worth fighting for 💚

✨ Sometimes, miracles really do happen. ✨

For weeks, we worried about these two little girls. We were struggling to find them a home, and honestly, we feared that perhaps only one would be adopted. But we couldn’t bear the thought of returning one of them to the jetty alone. They had been through so much together, and we desperately wanted them to stay together. 💔

Then, just when we were running out of hope, the miracle happened. ❤️

Someone came forward and said they wanted to adopt both girls. Together. 🐾🐾

Yesterday, they left for their new home — together, safe, loved and with a family of their own.

We couldn’t be happier for them. 💛💚🧡

Sometimes, the best endings are the ones we dared not even hope for. 🌈🐾

Thank you to the wonderful family who gave these two girls their miracle. 🙏❤️

A slightly late feeding round at Velim Fishing Jetty today, but what a beautiful way to end the day. 🌅🐾

Checking on our jetty dogs, making sure they were all safe, healthy and fed — with the most stunning sunset as our backdrop. ❤️

Another day, another round of care for the dogs who depend on us. 🐕🧡💚💛

HE FOUGHT TO SURVIVE ❤️🐾

When we first saw this boy’s tumour, we honestly feared the worst.

He had suffered with severe skin problems for years, and after we caught him from Velim Fishing Jetty for sterilisation, he developed a devastating, maggot-infested tumour on his leg.

The prognosis was grave. The tumour couldn’t be removed, and even amputation wasn’t possible. Our vets feared there was nothing more they could do.

But he refused to give up. ❤️

He responded to treatment. He got stronger. The infection improved. Even his skin began to heal.

And today, against all the odds, he went home. 🐾

Back to Velim Fishing Jetty. Back to the other dogs, people and place he knows.

We are incredibly grateful to the Mission Rabies team who helped catch him, and to the whole veterinary team and everyone at WVS Hicks ITC who cared for him and fought to give him a chance.

Today, we didn't have to say goodbye.

Today, we got to watch him return home. 💛💚🧡

🐾 Three more dogs caught at Colva Fish Market this week. 🐾

Two boys and one girl are now on their way to a safer future through our vaccination and sterilisation work. ❤️

Sadly, whilst setting up the trap cages, our founder, Julie was verbally abused by one of the local fishermen, who told her to “take the dogs back to her own country.” It was incredibly upsetting and completely unnecessary.

But we carry on. 💪

Because the dogs don’t understand anger, politics or borders. They just need someone to care about them.

We will continue to show up, continue to help, and continue doing what we know is right for the animals. 🐕💛💚🧡

Three more dogs. One more step towards a healthier, safer community.

💔 FIVE MORE PUPPIES ABANDONED AT VELIM FISHING JETTY 💔

It’s truly heartbreaking. Another five tiny puppies have been dumped at the jetty, left to fend for themselves.

We desperately wish we could take them in, but we simply cannot. We still have the two little girls from the previous litter of four who were abandoned at the jetty, and they are still waiting for their forever homes. Until they are adopted, we have no space to take in more.

Thankfully, the local boat workers are looking out for these puppies and feeding them. ❤️ We are also providing food, feeding them whenever needed, and checking on them every time we visit the jetty.

They shouldn't have been abandoned in the first place. 💔
