Diwali Celebrations at village Balavihar centers ✨
This Diwali was truly a festival of light — not just in lamps and crackers, but in the smiles and joy it kindled in so many hearts. 🌸

A heartfelt thanks to the generous hearts, for making our Diwali so colorful, beautiful, and deeply memorable.
With your blessings and support, Diwali crackers were distributed to 20 centers, bringing festive cheer to over 250 children. In addition, 30 Scheduled Tribe (ST) children received new dresses, lighting up their hearts with happiness and pride.

A sanitation kit — comprising essentials like toiletries, comb, nail cutter, detergent, hair oil — along with some trinkets such as pens, hair clips, and bands, was lovingly distributed to about 70 ST children.

The children were overjoyed with their thoughtful gifts. Their laughter filled the air as they burst crackers, shared sweets, chanted prayers, and learnt about the significance of Diwali — the triumph of light over darkness and goodness over ignorance.

For many of our ST children, who are not otherwise financially able to celebrate Diwali, this day was extra special and unforgettable. Their hearts overflowed with gratitude to Gurudev, whose grace continues to light their lives with love, learning, and joy.

Thank you once again, for making this Diwali not just a festival — but a celebration of compassion, inclusion, and shared happiness. 💛

*Poshan Abhiyan *
Mahila Mandal members and Balavihar children actively participated in Poshan Abhiyan through engaging chart work and demonstrations on healthy and unhealthy foods. Awareness sessions highlighted the importance of a balanced diet, traditional nutritious meals, and avoiding junk food. Children creatively displayed food pyramids, posters, and slogans promoting good eating habits.
Women used Navaratri Golu and annadana prasadam as a platform to demonstrate healthy food choices. These activities inspired the community to adopt healthier lifestyles and reinforced the message — “Sahi Poshan, Desh Roshan.”

*Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Activities by Mahila Mandal Members*

As part of the *Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Mahila Mandal members actively participated in various cleanliness initiatives to promote hygiene and environmental awareness in their villages. The activities included **sweeping and cleaning of public roads, common spaces, and surroundings, as well as **awareness sessions on waste segregation* and its importance in maintaining a healthy community.

Members also took a *pledge to uphold cleanliness* in their homes and neighbourhoods, reaffirming their commitment to the vision of a clean and green India.

To instil the value of cleanliness in young minds, *Balavihar classes* for children incorporated interactive discussions and creative activities on personal and environmental hygiene.

During the *Navaratri festival, innovative and meaningful **Golu displays* were organized by the Devi groups on the theme of *personal hygiene, environmental cleanliness, and mental purity*. These thematic presentations beautifully conveyed the message that true cleanliness extends beyond our surroundings—to our thoughts, actions, and inner purity.

Through these collective efforts, the Mahila Mandal and Balavihar groups inspired the entire community to embrace cleanliness as a *way of life and a sacred duty*.

World Mental Health Day, October 10*

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, CORD, in collaboration with Adharavu Illam, organized a *Mental Health Awareness Program* aimed at promoting understanding and compassion towards mental well-being.

Using the vibrant folk art form of *Therukoothu (street play), local youth creatively conveyed messages on the *causes, symptoms, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental health issues. The performance also emphasized the importance of social inclusion and the need to break societal taboos surrounding mental illness.

The program received an enthusiastic response from Mahila Mandal members as well as the general public, including men and children. It successfully shed light on many lesser-known aspects of mental health and inspired the community to foster empathy, awareness, and support for those affected.
