Kanmalai Trust field visit:

Students from the Postgraduate Department of Social Work at Jamal Mohamed College — Pavana, Sumathira, Vino, and Akshaya — came to Aruvi Foundation for a summer training program. During one day of fieldwork they received training on Kanmalai Trust’s activities, how volunteer organizations operate, how we should behave in society, how to bring about social change, and how to transform the communities around us into better ones. A certificate was awarded at the end of the training.

Field study-6

On 28rd May 2026 (Wednesday), the students who were taking internships at Kanmalai Trust -Felcita (Loyola College Chennai); Preeti, Kanvinesh, Nagendran (Bharathidasan University Trichy) went to Amirtham Social Service Trust founder Mr.Vijay kumar ' s house , Tennur to visit his collection of books and antique items . There are 2 prominent sectors there one - the library which works on his own without any librarian present. The highlight of this is the belief in society where anyone can approach and read a book. The collection of books goes over a thousand with huge works in tamil , he says that if a language and culture has to be preserved the books of that area must be preserved. The second sector is the daily-use antique saved over the span of 25 years . It included vessels, telephones , coins , measurement instruments , agricultural objects and many more . Sir is a Yoga instructor with several awards including one from the governor . Another one he does out of his own is the burial of bodies that are left unclaimed. Sir explained everything that he owns and does . His house is a living evidence of several years of culture that holds our land together. The students were very much inspired by his works . And a wide range of knowledge was achieved. With this the day came to an end .
