⚠️ ENVIRONMENTAL ALERT – DEVALA HILLS, NILGIRIS
The presence of deep excavation pits in the Devala hill region raises serious concerns regarding environmental safety and ecosystem protection.
If such activities continue unchecked, they may lead to:
• Soil erosion and land degradation
• Increased risk of landslides during monsoon seasons
• Damage to natural water sources and groundwater recharge zones
• Loss of biodiversity and wildlife habitat
• Threats to nearby communities and public safety
• Irreversible ecological damage to the fragile Nilgiris landscape
We urge the Forest Department and concerned authorities to conduct an immediate investigation, secure the affected area, restrict unauthorized access, and take all necessary measures to prevent further environmental damage.

நீலகிரி தேவாலா மலைப்பகுதியில் கண்டறியப்பட்ட ஆழமான தோண்டப்பட்ட குழிகள் மற்றும் சந்தேகத்திற்கிடமான சுரங்க நடவடிக்கைகள், அப்பகுதியின் சுற்றுச்சூழல் மற்றும் உயிரியல் அமைப்பிற்கு கடுமையான பாதிப்புகளை ஏற்படுத்தும் அபாயத்தை ஏற்படுத்துகின்றன.
இத்தகைய நடவடிக்கைகள் தொடர்ந்தால் எதிர்காலத்தில் நிலச்சரிவு அபாயம் அதிகரிக்கலாம், மண் வளம் பாதிக்கப்படலாம், இயற்கை நீராதாரங்கள் சேதமடையலாம், வனவிலங்குகளின் வாழ்விடங்கள் அழியலாம் மற்றும் நீலகிரியின் இயற்கை சமநிலை கடுமையாக பாதிக்கப்படலாம்.
எனவே, வனத்துறை மற்றும் சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அரசு துறைகள் உடனடியாக கள ஆய்வு மேற்கொண்டு, இப்பகுதியை பாதுகாப்பு கட்டுப்பாட்டின் கீழ் கொண்டு வந்து, அனுமதியற்ற நுழைவு மற்றும் சட்டவிரோத நடவடிக்கைகளை தடுக்க தேவையான நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுக்குமாறு கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறோம்.
