✨ A Golden Day in the Journey of Solace ✨
October 12, 2025, will always remain a day to be written in golden letters in the story of Solace.
At the Dr. Advani’s Legendary Oncology Series (DALOS) International Conference held at Smitha Memorial Hospital, Solace had the privilege of co-organizing the NGO and Public Awareness session on the theme:
“Bridging the Gap: The Critical Role of NGOs in Cancer Care and Support (From Awareness to Access).”
We are deeply thankful to Dr. Purvish M. Parikh for inviting Solace to be part of this meaningful platform and for entrusting us with such a valuable role. Dr. Parikh was the doctor who performed the bone marrow transplantation for my daughter Nilu — and it was through him that the word ‘Solace’ found its true essence.
During those testing times, as a mother caring for my ailing child, his strength, compassion, and encouragement were immense. To me, the word ‘Solace’ itself meant ‘Purvish’. The courage and inspiration I received from him later became the foundation of what we now know as Solace.
Dr. Parikh continues to guide us as one of the distinguished members of our Advisory Board.
The panel discussion brought together respected experts — Dr. E. Divakaran, Dr. Satheesh Kumar, Dr. P. V. Ajayan, Dr. Mathews Nampeli, Dr. Sruthi Pallath, and Parameswaran — who shared insightful perspectives on the role of NGOs in cancer care.
A very special moment for us was meeting the legendary Dr. Suresh H. Advani, the internationally acclaimed oncologist who led the Department of Medical Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. It was both an honour and a moment of deep pride.
The session also included moving experience-sharing by survivors — Alli Unni, a Solace volunteer, and Minu Prasannan, who has been with Solace since her childhood, beautifully shared their journeys of courage and hope.
💛 For all of us at Solace, this day was not just about recognition — it was about reaffirming our purpose:
to keep bridging gaps, spreading awareness, and standing beside every child and family facing the challenges of long-term illness. 💛
