The name “Kerala Samskarika Vedi’ translates as “Kerala Cultural Forum” and the title itself explain its line of working. Established in the year 2003, Vedi - as it is affectionately called - soon became the warp and weft of social life for the nostalgic Malayalee community who made Mira-Bhayander their home. Families that joined the now 25000 strong community over the last two decades are weaved
into a society sensitive to each other’s sentiments as well as national and social issues. Taking up the role of a learned and seasoned family patriarch, Vedi ensured an enviable emotional bond not only within its members, but also with other sections of the society. Moral support and financial help in deserving cases are rendered at a time of distress. Happy moments of an individual are shared by the entire society. Retaining traditional values through the gen-next was our prime objective and have proved to be our success in this area. The second generation is taught to respect our mother tongue and the culture of our homeland. Festivals are celebrated together, with all our cultural legacies coming alive. Good customs that unwittingly surrendered to modernity found an enthusiastic acceptance of its revival. Art and literature are encouraged like in the dynastic era; hidden talents are brought to light as done by a mentoring guru. Awards are instituted for academic excellence. Still we strive to provide more service, to build relations based on selfless interests and to be known as an ideal community.
