Continuing the Osoji Project 🧹

Although the university students from Japan have returned home, we are continuing their vision together with Sheth Karamshi Kanji English School.

On April 16, we held a 30-minute cleaning session with 4th-grade students. Inspired by cleaning practices in Japanese schools, students moved desks and chairs and worked together to sweep and wipe the classroom floors.

The students participated with great enthusiasm, and seeing their smiles while cleaning was especially memorable. ✨

We believe that through these activities, children can develop responsibility, cooperation, respect for cleanliness, and a mindset of caring for others.
We look forward to continuing this project together. 🌍

Osoji Project at Sheth Karamshi Kanji English School ✨🧹

From March to April, university students from Japan through AIESEC came to Mumbai to intern with Gully Classes Foundation.

One Japanese student had a simple but meaningful wish: to share one of the beautiful values of Japanese culture with children in India — the importance of keeping shared spaces clean and taking care of our environment.

With the warm support of the teachers at Sheth Karamshi Kanji English School, we launched the Cleanliness Project on March 25.

During the session, the children learned about Japanese culture through a presentation and discussed the importance of cleanliness. After that, everyone spent five minutes cleaning their own classroom together.

Since then, students have continued a daily 5-minute classroom cleaning routine. 🌱
Through cleaning, we hope children can learn not only how to keep spaces clean, but also responsibility, teamwork, respect for shared environments, and kindness in helping others✨

From May 3rd to 5th, the Grand Sampai (Ceremony) was held at Misono, the headquarters of Shumei in Japan.

Shumei youth members set up international booths to raise support funds by selling local products from different countries.

Just like last year, we also set up our booth next to the Zambia booth. We sold handmade notebooks, keychains, rings, etc, made by NGOs in India. Japanese youth members kindly sold the products, bringing a vibrant spirit.

Many visitors showed great interest in the activity photos of the local NGOs, the handmade items, and generously made donations.

We are truly grateful for this valuable opportunity and for everyone’s warm support. 🙏

We had a booth at an organic market held last week in Thane.

We had Jyorei Booth, matcha tasting made by Natural Agriculture, and a keychain-making activity inspired by the Miho Museum collection.
We also had the honor of performing Taiko drumming at the market’s opening.

It was a wonderful experience connecting with so many people and sharing the our three essential activities: Jyorei, Natural Agriculture, and the appreciation of Art and Beauty.

ムンバイ和太鼓クラブとして、くう楽さんと練習を続けてきた課題曲の「まさる」の初の演奏の機会となりました。

We held a taiko performance on the stage of Japan Matsuri at Mumbai in February.

It was also the first opportunity for the Mumbai Wa Daiko Club to perform.
We had been practicing “Masaru” as our main piece, and we were glad to successfully present it.
After that, We performed Miyake and Kyuhachijyo.

We are deeply grateful and honored to be able to perform in this wonderful japanese event. We will strive to strike not only taiko, but the listeners heart and soul.

May everyone in the world experience one of the wonderful arts of Japanese culture, taiko.
May everyone in the world experience the supreme light of Meishusama through taiko.
