World One Health Day, observed on November 3, emphasizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.

From a veterinary perspective, it highlights the profession’s critical role in controlling zoonotic diseases such as rabies, brucellosis, avian influenza, and tuberculosis which make up about 60% of all human infectious diseases.

Veterinarians contribute to food safety, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) control, and disease surveillance at the animal–human interface. They also support sustainable livestock practices and monitor wildlife health to detect emerging pathogens early.

The day reinforces that achieving global health security and environmental balance requires coordinated efforts across sectors, with veterinarians at the frontline of the One Health approach.

IVSA Kashmir proudly announces the launch of our Animal Welfare Project, generously funded by IVSA SCAW, with support from IVSA India and CEVA Santé Animale 💙

From reflective collars for equines to vaccination drives, adoptions, awareness programs, and farmer interactions; we’re bringing compassion and care straight to the community. 🐾

This project is more than an initiative; it’s a movement to uplift animal welfare, empower veterinary students, and make kindness contagious. 🌍✨

Today, on World Animal Welfare Day, let’s remind ourselves that every creature—whether a pet at home, a bird in the sky, or a wild animal in the forest—deserves love, care, and freedom. 🐶🐱🐦🐯 Animals can’t speak our language, but they speak through their eyes, their trust, and their presence. Sadly, many of them face cruelty, neglect, and the loss of their natural homes because of human actions. 💔

Let’s choose empathy over ignorance, care over cruelty, and love over neglect—because how we treat animals reflects who we truly are. 🌍🐾
