Every project under Royal Enfield Social Mission is built on the belief that the health of a landscape and the vitality of its culture are inseparable.

The Himalayan Knot keeps Himalayan communities weaving, sustaining not just craft traditions, but generations of ecological knowledge. The Great Himalayan Exploration and Green Pit Stops bring people into living landscapes and ask them to engage with them more consciously. Journeying Across The Himalayas invites artists into spaces where culture, memory, and wilderness continue to shape one another. Through our fellowships, we support storytellers, researchers, and practitioners carrying these connections forward. Our road safety initiative also utilises culture, creativity and self-expression to change mindsets across the country.

Because culture is not separate from conservation.
It shapes how communities relate to land, how knowledge is carried forward, and how futures are imagined.

On 17 May, at the Green Hub Festival 2026 in Tezpur, Assam, surrounded by young filmmakers, conservationists, and changemakers from across the Himalayas, we announced RELink: The Fellowship Forum.

A platform built to bridge opportunities, strengthen networks, and empower the individuals already doing the work. Because the next changemaker shouldn’t have to find their way alone.

300+ leaders. 40+ partners. One platform.

This is just the beginning. Watch this space for more updates.

Bridging Spaces; Living Roots! by Sumant Jayakrishnan was a multi-sensory installation that reimagined the extraordinary ecological architecture of Meghalaya’s living root bridges through the lens of contemporary scenography.

Crafted from recycled fabrics, woven textures and reflective surfaces, the installation paid homage to the intergenerational process through which the Khasi community guides the aerial roots of the Ficus elastica tree to form bridges that grow, adapt and evolve in harmony with the land.

Through light, shadow, sound and movement, the work created an experiential bridge between nature’s intelligence and human imagination—reflecting on resilience, renewal and symbiosis.

Each year, we try to bring a piece of vernacular architecture from the Himalayas to Delhi. Stay tuned to find out what’s in store this year as Journeying Across The Himalayas returns, 3-9 December 2026.

Rooted in Kashmir’s rich artistic legacy, the Sakhta Story, by Burhan Ud Din Khateeb, supported by the Good Earth Heritage Foundation ( ), brought new life to saakhta—the intricate craft of papier-mâché mould-making. This interactive exhibition celebrated the SakhtaSaaz Collective’s efforts to preserve, revive and reimagine this fading tradition for a new generation of makers and admirers.

The exhibit was presented at Journeying Across The Himalayas 2025. We continue to spotlight practices that are ever-evolving in tandem with our theme “Becoming” for the third edition of Journeying Across The Himalayas 2026. More updates coming soon!

Two journeys to Assam that I continue to hold close through two collections—“Country Road”, Royal Enfield x Countrymade for The Action Northeast Trust and “Homecoming”, Royal Enfield x Sonam Dubal for The Action Northeast Trust—created for The Himalayan Knot, Royal Enfield Social Mission’s textile and pastoral land conservation project.

Country Road translated the spirit of a ride across the mountains into traditional Bodo weaves, with roads, hills, clouds and the iconic Royal Enfield finding their way into woven motifs while Homecoming explored the quiet resilience of Eri silk, creating pieces shaped by movement, comfort and the realities of travel.

Both collections emerged from thoughtful engagement with the region and its people. The spirit of community and collaboration that envelopes The Himalayan Knot is what continues to make it so special to be a part of.

Across three rooms, Echoes of the East at Journeying Across The Himalayas 2025, traced how memory, identity and ecological knowledge are carried through ritual, textiles and oral traditions.

Curated by Julie Kagti ( ) and drawn from UNESCO x Royal Enfield’s The Great Himalayan Exploration, the exhibition reflects on heritage as a system of relationships—between people, land and time.

Stay tuned to see what travels to the festival this year as Journeying Across The Himalayas returns from 3-9 December 2026, at Travancore Palace, New Delhi.

What can a fabric hold? Ecology. A livelihood. Shared memory. A way of belonging.

In our “spiritual home”, textiles become a custodian of landscape, knowledge, and relationships. The threads of a garment carry within them the labour of many hands, the movement of herds across mountains, and generations of pastoral and textile traditions.

As pastoral lands shrink and seasons move unpredictably, The Himalayan Knot, launched in 2023, is a commitment to conserving the heritage, geography, and livelihoods held within textile craft. Across six capsule collections assembled through long-term collaborations between pastoral communities, artisans, designers, conservation practitioners, and cultural organisations, each piece carries the spirit of the mountains.

Visit The Himalayan Knot Trunk Show and Exhibition as it travels to London Craft Week 2026, presented by the Friday Sari Project Curated Store and Showcase (), from 12–17 May 2026.
