ao ambedkar, Jay Prakashnarayan came together to fight against the social, economic, educational and developmental problems that were prominent among the poor and deprived. DSS from the past few years has extensive experience on rescuing and rehabilitating victims of child labour and trafficking in Jharkhand in association with concerned government department, UN agency, state level network against human trafficking and local resource organization. As a result of which DSS’s work against human trafficking was recognized by the ADG, CID Jharkhand in 2012 and IG CID in 2013. The organization is a member of District (Ranchi) level task force on Child Labour Rescue, District level Bonded Labour Rescue and Rehabilitation Committee and Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee (SFCAC). Latehar, Ramgarh, Pakur, Dumka, Lohardaga and Gumla Districts of Jharkhand. We focus our poverty fighting efforts on the most vulnerable population. Those who are homeless, distress, deprived, exploited, vulnerable and most neglected groups, especially women and Children of the society and who are excluded from mainstream society, Diya Seva Sanstha (DSS) among these groups, work primarily with poor children, adolescent, girls and women. DSS programmes are in the areas of women empowerment, health, education, and agriculture, social and economic development in both urban and rural areas of in the concerned 9 Districts of Jharkhand. The organization recently emerged as the only organization working rigorously with limited resources against human trafficking, missing children etc. The reason for which the organization focused towards work against human trafficking is the high rate of trafficking of women and children to the metro cities. Recent achievements of the organization:
• The organization registered 84 FIRs (First Information Report) against the cases of child trafficking, mostly girls.
• The first case of anti-human traffickingand bounded lebur in Jharkhand is won by the organization on 16th May, 2012 and all the convicted got imprisonment.
• The organization conducted a raid with the support of CID Jharkhand in Delhi and rescued 84 girls on 25th December, 2012. The rescued girls were from Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal.
• Since 2009 to till date, the organization rescued 121 girls and 5 boys who have been trafficked/ tried to be trafficked.
• FIR in all the cases of trafficking and regular follow ups in the court
• Regular meeting with CID Jharkhand on how to stop and fight against trafficking of women and children
• Missing Child Helpline (9471300008) started with the support of CID Jharkhand and UNICEF Jharkhand on 21st October, 2013.
• The total number of cases registered with missing child helpline is 2500 and of 840 have been recovered.
• Use of social media facebookwatsup grup (one girl found after 3 years within 24 hours of the information)also helped finding some missing children and awareness
• Every month an average of 20 cases of missing/ trafficked informed to the organization and accordingly action has been taken with the help of CID
• We got recognition due to rigorous work against human trafficking in Jharkhand by ADG, CID Jharkhand in 2012
• We got recognition by the IG, CID Jharkhand in 2013 for work against human trafficking in Jharkhand
• Organization filed a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) on the implementation of The Protection of Children from sexual Offences Act, 2012 in Jharkhand. The case is pending in Jharkhand High Court, Ranchi.
• Prepared a list of 240 placement agencies and 35 agents who have links in human trafficking and submitted to CID. The list submitted to Jharkhand High Court and CBI investigation has been ordered in the PIL.
• The list of 34 kingpins who are working as agents for trafficking has been prepared with picture, contact details and submitted to CID for necessary action.
• 1034 drop outs children were enrolled back in the schools in 2009-10 after providing them bridge course and life skills. 150 girls out of 1030 were of parents who used to work in bricks kiln in Bihar and west Bengal. These girls appeared in matriculation exam in 2014 who were enrolled in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya after the bridge course.
• Conducted school awareness programme on child protection in 205 schools in Ranchi, Gumla and Latehar lohardaga among school children and reached more than 56 thousand children with support from UNICEF. We also conducted survey of their knowledge on the age of child marriage, what is human trafficking, who is a child, HIV/AIDS, who has right under RTE and child abuse.
• We facilitated in constituting 155 Village Child Protection Committees (VCPC) in 5 blocks of Simdega – Kolebira, Bano, Jaldega, Thethaitanagar and Bansjod and provided orientation on child protection and function of VCPC in 20013 with support from UNICEF.
• We conducted a workshop on child protection and sharing of experience on the situation of child protection issues experienced in 3 districts Ranchi, Latehar and Gumla with NGO representatives.
• We conducted workshop on the role of panchayat leader in combating human trafficking in Ramgarh with support from State Women Commission, Jharkhand.
• We have more than 870 Self Help Groups in Kanke block of Ranchi with 100 percent bank linkages and loan facilitated. We have provide them with training on vegetables farming, candle making, incense stick making, floriculture, mushroom culture, embroidery, zari craft and mobile repairing to the members SHGs.
• Workshop on role of PRI, advocatespoliceand vcpc .bcpc , NGOs representatives and paralegal volunteers combating human trafficking bonded lebur in Jharkhand.
