India is currently facing a silent crisis in inclusive education—particularly when it comes to neurodiverse children, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Down Syndrome, Intellectual Disability (ID), Dyslexia, and other learning or developmental differences. Despite policy frameworks such as the Right to Education Act (2009) and the RPWD Act (2016) mandating inclusive education, the ground reality paints a starkly different picture:
Lack of early detection: Most children in India are diagnosed late—often after age 6—missing the critical early intervention window.
Scarcity of trained educators: Regular schoolteachers are typically not trained to identify, support, or teach neurodiverse students.
Inaccessible curriculum and pedagogy: Mainstream schools rarely adopt Universal Design for Learning (UDL) or differentiated teaching practices.
Social stigma and isolation: Neurodiverse children often face bullying, exclusion, or are denied admission outright.
Therapy and support cost: With limited access to affordable occupational therapy, speech therapy, and special education, families are burdened emotionally and financially.
According to surveys by UNESCO and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (2021), only 1 in 4 children with disabilities in India ever attend school regularly, and those who do are often segregated within classrooms or unsupported.
How Avyan Idris Bridge School is Creating Change
Avyan Idris Bridge School is a bold, community-rooted initiative designed to address this inclusion gap in India—starting with early years, where intervention and acceptance matter the most.
Here’s how we support neurodiverse children and their families:
Early Identification & Intervention
We screen children between 3 to 8 years using developmentally appropriate tools.
Our tech platform unifies interventions across speech therapy, occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, and special education—enabling professionals to collaborate seamlessly and deliver integrated Intervention.
Blended Learning Environment
We follow a micro school model: We are a “school within a school,” dedicated to supporting and empowering children with diverse neuro-developmental conditions through inclusive and personalised learning.
Our educators are trained in inclusive pedagogy, child psychology, and assistive communication.
Personalised Education Plans
Each child has an Individual Learning and Intervention Plan (ILIP).
Our classrooms are inclusive by design, ensuring peer interactions, visual schedules, sensory accommodations, and structured routines.
Parent & Caregiver Empowerment
We offer parent training workshops, support groups, and respite care.
We build a KYC-verified parent-teacher ecosystem, fostering trust, transparency, and shared responsibility.
Transition Support
We assist families in transitioning children to mainstream schools where appropriate, or continuing their path with us.
We help families navigate NIOS or other flexible academic frameworks aligned with the child’s pace and strengths.
Our Vision
At Avyan Idris Bridge School, we don’t just teach—we advocate, collaborate, and adapt. Our mission is to bridge the gap between the child’s unique learning needs and the societal systems that are yet to evolve.
While the journey toward inclusive education is still evolving in our country, we are committed to leading by example—by building our own inclusive model of support and learning
