Beena Govind, A journalist by profession. Mrs.Beena Govind launched the pilot project of supply of free noon-meals (Annadhanam) in July 1996 from her own house with the help of friends and neighbours. The project aimed at providing fresh and wholesome meals for the poor patients admitted to Palakkad General Hospital. Started with the enthusiasm of a team of energetic members, the Annadhanam projec
t quickly gained momentum. Within a few months, Devashrayam became the talk of the town. The society was then catering to 100 inpatients at General Hospital on a daily basis. The second project of supply of free medicines to the poor patients of Palakkad district was started in October 1997. Since then, the Medicine Bank distributes free medicines to the needy patients through authorised medical shops. The third project of rehabilitating mentallu challenged persons was started in October 1998. The vocational training centre for the differently abled was started with just three children in a hired building. Over the years, the center has evolved into a professionally managed vocational rehabilitation home for the differently abled raising from the age of ten to fifty. The fourth project of providing financial assistance for dialysis to kidney patients was started in February 2008. The project now supports sixty patients per month. The society has a staff strength of sixteen. we are NGO nominee of National trust, for Palakkad dist (Kerala) a central government agency formed for betterment,of people affected with Autism, mental retardation, cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities. The society is run by a team of eighteen members, led by the governing committee elected at the annual General Body Meetings. Our Auditor : -
