Even after 67 years of freedom, Mewat remain one of the most backward regions and Sachhar committee assessed that “The Muslims (Meo) of this region are the most disadvantaged community; they are even more disadvantaged than Dalits of Bihar in terms of access to finance, social and education”. The overall literacy rate in this region is approx 56% with 37% female literacy and among Meos community, it is 25%(Male) with a negligible female literacy of less than 7 %, while average literacy of Haryana is 75.55 and Rajasthan 66.11% as per 2011 population census. Shaheed Raja Hasan Khan Mewati, allied with Rana Sanga, fought bravely against invader Babur in the battle of Khanwa in 1527 and laid his life with 12,000 Mewati soldiers. The people of this region are the followers of Father of Nation and were first to reject the idea of partition, when Mahatma Gandhi Ji visited village Ghasera (Mewat) on 19 December 1947 and stayed in their beloved country to serve it. The promise of equal social justice and empowerment made by Mahatma Gandhi is not fulfilled since independence and neglected in the process of development. The people of this backward region are very poor, so need higher education available at door step at less cost.
