Most of us are still treating the Cockroach Janta Party as a joke.

That’s understandable. The name alone invites it.

But I keep coming back to a simpler question: why are so many young Indians willing to wear an insult as identity?

That reaction tells us something real about the mood right now — more than most surveys do.

I’ve written a longer piece looking at this from a strategist’s lens. Not to support or attack CJP. Just to understand what it reveals about attention, satire, youth frustration, and the gaps bigger parties keep missing.

History has shown us this pattern before. Identity reclamation, digital speed, and pressure politics often arrive long before formal parties do.

Whether this particular movement lasts is almost secondary. The emotion underneath it will not disappear just because the name feels ridiculous.

The underlying issues — graduate unemployment, examination integrity, and declining institutional trust — are real and longstanding. What stands out is the organisational speed.
In my experience, even a tightly targeted digital campaign aimed at under half a million people needs at least 15 days of proper design, testing and setup to reach 40-50% of the audience and convert 10-15%. Scaling to millions with spokespeople, legal coordination and multi-state presence usually takes far longer.
This formation compressed that entire sequence into days.
