Masjid Zeenat is a 30-year old Masjid located in Wazirpur Industrial Estate, Delhi, surrounded by several huts belonging to very poor Muslim. In 2008 the Muslims came to know through a Court Notice (Re: Ex*****on Petition No. 313/2008 :: M/s Sanjeev Sonia Industries & Ors) that the land on which about 40 huts and the Masjid stood belonged to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and that it would
soon be removed forcibly by bulldozers. They engaged a lawyer and filed their Objections in the High Court of Delhi. The matter was sent for Mediation to explore the possibility if the Masjid could pay an amount to continue at the place. After several rounds of hard negotiations, it was decided by Court that the Masjid would pay Rs.1.65 Crores for 313 Sq. yards of space which is under its control. The present market value of land is about five crores. Three drafts totaling Rs. 41 lakhs have already been paid till date, while Rs.1.24 Crores (Rs.12.4 million) remain to be paid in quarterly (3-monthly) installment of Rs. 13 lakhs each, that began on 1st February, 2014. Every three months we must tender a DD/Pay Order to the High Court of Delhi till the full amount is paid-up in 10 installments spanning 30 months. In case of delay in paying installment, the Masjid shall have to pay an interest of 15% on the delayed amount/period. When interest is paid, the default shall stand cancelled and future installments of Rs. 13 lakhs shall continue as before but on default of three (3) consecutive installments (i.e. 9 months) the entire Masjid land will have to be returned back to M/s Sanjeev Sonia Industries. On the other hand, if early payment is made, the Masjid will get a rebate of 10% on amount pre-paid. Riba is Haram but the Masjid will have to unfortunately pay it, if we as an Ummah, fail to pay on time. The opposing party does not want us to even put up a gate at the Masjid. It is eagerly waiting that we default and the Masjid is removed. This arrangement, as per a favourable order of the High Court dated 19.12.2013, shall bind the entire community for which a Resolution has been passed with several signatures and relevant details. The Masjid has published this in Rashtriya Sahara, Urdu newspaper on 13.01.2014. The Masjid President (Mr. Abaad Khan) has also given an Undertaking to the High Court of Delhi that this Order would bind all Muslims in future.
