From football tournaments carrying the message “Say No to Drugs, Choose Sports, Health and Life” to intergenerational conversations where young people shared their views, experiences and aspirations with peers, parents and community members, each activity reflected the diverse realities young people experience while highlighting what connects them—their common aspirations for health, safety, opportunity and a better future.

Different contexts. Different experiences. But common aspirations.

This International Youth Day, we celebrate the voices of young people and the collective strength of communities working together to turn those aspirations into action.

Different Contexts, Common Aspirations

On International Youth Day 2026, we celebrate the dreams, potential and aspirations of young people everywhere.

The theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” reminds us that while young people may grow up in different circumstances, their hopes are often the same — the hope to learn, grow, create and build a better future.

Through WSAF 2.0, we are working closely with young people in tea-growing communities, helping them see possibilities beyond the limitations around them.

A young person may dream of becoming a tech professional, an artist, a footballer, an entrepreneur or something entirely different. And these dreams should never be limited by gender, background or circumstances.

What they need is guidance, support, encouragement and opportunities — and, most importantly, someone to tell them:

“You can do it. Your dream is possible.”

This Youth Day, let’s create spaces where every young person can dream freely, discover their potential and take the first step towards making that dream a reality.

Because different contexts may shape our journeys, but the aspiration to dream, achieve and belong is universal.
