Geo-Crusaders, PGDAV College - DU, Environmental Society Society for creating awareness towards the repercussions of environmental degradation and motivate people to conserve the environment.

The society aims to create and maintain a herbal garden in the college premises along with generating vegetal/organic manure through various composting strategies. The idea is also to organize Annual Environment Fest in which students across the Courses will be made aware with various environmental problems and their possible solutions through lectures, poster-making, photography and videography c

ompetitions and various inter-society and inter-college activities. The society will try to work in collaboration with other institutions working towards environmental awareness programs and conduct symposia, workshops, trips, and College projects to keep students updated with new researches and approaches towards keeping our environment in good health. We also aim to create and maintain a display board in collaboration with students and update college website with current news, researches, reports and activities regarding environment. The society aims at creating awareness regarding various socio-ecological aspects of environmental degradation as well as environment conservation.

World Forest Day 🌳🌍

Forests are the lungs of our planet, providing oxygen, sheltering wildlife, and sustaining countless ecosystems. They play a crucial role in regulating climate, conserving biodiversity, and supporting the livelihoods of millions of people. From dense rainforests to urban green belts, every forest contributes to a healthier and more balanced Earth.

However, deforestation, illegal logging, and rapid urban expansion continue to threaten these vital ecosystems. The loss of forests not only accelerates climate change but also endangers wildlife, disrupts water cycles, and impacts human well-being.

This day reminds us that protecting forests is not just an environmental responsibility β€” it is essential for our survival. By valuing and conserving our green cover, we can ensure a sustainable future for generations to come. 🌱

🌿 Let’s pledge to:
βœ… Plant and nurture more trees
βœ… Reduce paper and wood consumption
βœ… Support afforestation and conservation drives
βœ… Protect wildlife and natural habitats
βœ… Spread awareness about forest conservation

Because saving forests today means securing life for tomorrow. 🌳✨

World Sparrow Day 🐦🌿

Sparrows, once a common sight in our homes and streets, are now slowly disappearing from our surroundings. These tiny birds play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance by controlling insects and contributing to biodiversity. Their presence is a sign of a healthy environment, yet rapid urbanization, pollution, and loss of nesting spaces have pushed them toward decline.

The growing use of concrete structures, reduction in green spaces, and increased electromagnetic radiation have made it difficult for sparrows to survive and thrive. Protecting them is not just about saving a bird species β€” it’s about preserving the delicate balance of our ecosystem.

This day reminds us that even the smallest creatures deserve care and protection. By taking simple steps, we can help bring back the cheerful chirping of sparrows into our lives. 🌱

🌿 Let’s pledge to:
βœ… Provide water and grains for birds
βœ… Install bird feeders and nesting boxes
βœ… Grow more trees and native plants
βœ… Avoid excessive use of pesticides
βœ… Spread awareness about bird conservation

Because saving sparrows today means protecting nature’s harmony for tomorrow. 🐦✨

Global Recycling Day πŸŒβ™»οΈ

Recycling is one of the simplest yet most powerful ways to protect our planet. It helps reduce waste, conserve natural resources, save energy, and lower pollution, creating a cleaner and healthier environment for all. From paper and plastic to metal and e-waste, every item we recycle contributes to a more sustainable future.

However, the growing problem of waste mismanagement, excessive consumption, and plastic pollution continues to threaten ecosystems and human health. Promoting recycling means reducing landfill waste, protecting wildlife, and supporting a circular economy.
This day reminds us that small actions can lead to big change. By making conscious choices and spreading awareness, we can turn waste into opportunity and build a greener world. 🌱

🌿 Let’s pledge to:
βœ… Reduce, reuse, and recycle in daily life
βœ… Segregate waste responsibly
βœ… Avoid single-use plastics
βœ… Support recycling initiatives and eco-friendly products
βœ… Raise awareness about sustainable waste management

Because recycling today means preserving tomorrow. β™»οΈβœ¨
