PRAYAAS-VNIT:-
The idea of a contributing ones’ self to the society or in fact, repaying the society with what it has bestowed us is an urge that couldn’t be trapped within for a long time. The thought was nurtured by Mr. Pratyush Prabhakar, now an alumnus of VNIT
In sept 2006, Prayaas came to existence which now has grown into a concrete well planned activity supported by the Technical Education
students which Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP), Govt. of India
Mission / Vision:-

This program is inspired by the vision of Dr. A. Abdul Kalam of making education compliant to societal needs and providing knowledge connectivity to rural India

Prayaas Book Bank:
Every year at the end of the semester Prayaas collects the used books of all the students from their hostels.Mostly the final years donate all their books to the book bank as they wont use it further! What we do after collecting is,we will put a poster in the hostels which comprises of the list of the books that we collected and students who wants these books can take it from the book bank!! We take a minimum amount of 5o Rs as deposit and give these books to the students. And at the end of the semester we again take back the books that we issued from the book bank and also collect new books from everyone! In this way we are increasing the books number every year and also supplying books to every student!! The reason why students can not get some of the books from library is there are a lot of books in the library but there are very less number of books from a particular author for a subject!! If we take Maths in first year 600 students will take this course but only 100 books of Iyengar(Book preferred by profs) are only available in the library. So in this way by collecting the used books prayaas is helping those who cant afford to buy a new book!!
