Mahadevaiah is home! See our post on February 21 for the back story.

After a bit of a delay (it happens in India), Mahadevaiah finally made it back home to his wife this month. She wondered what had happened to him after he failed to return home for months. He also was unable to tell us where he was from until this year. Maha spent months under our care after being found emaciated and near death on the city streets.

Again, thank you for your support. With your support, we were able to get Mahadevaiah medical attention and shelter, where he rested and let his body heal, finally to return home.

We found Venkatesh on the roadside in mid-March this year. He had a very bad head laceration that needed medical attention, who cleaned the wounds and had him return every day for about two weeks for daily cleanings and dressings. Venkatesh stayed with us at Kumari's Ashram since he had nowhere else to go.

Once Venkatesh felt better, he told us that he's from Hyderabad, where his three kids and wife live. He was ready to return to them, so we got his train ticket and said our goodbyes. Once home, his family called to say thank you because he had been gone for two years and they thought he was dead.

Your support helps our destitute, missing individuals find their way back home.

We've had a little competition going on at our children's home for a few years, where the 12th graders studying commerce have been trying to outdo each other's scores on their year-end public exams. For these very difficult exams, anything over 80% is pretty darn good, and scores 90% and higher are quite rare.

Prajwal was the first to take this exam in 2019 and received 90.3%. We thought he did incredibly and that score would hold for a long time, but then ... (!!!) Sowmya bested his score in 2023 with a 95.3% (total points 572) ! 💪🏼

For a few years, Sowmya's score withheld all challengers, including that from her brother, JD, who in 2025 scored 94%.

However, this year, Bhuvan bested Sowmya by ONE point (573), for 95.5%.

Congratulations to Bhuvan, who is on his way to pursuing his bachelor's degree with a focus on becoming a chartered accountant. In fact, he's already started preparatory tutoring for that track.

We found Santosh in November 2025, he was in pretty bad shape. The doctor determined that he had tuberculosis, and he spent a couple of months admitted at the TB hospital before coming to stay at our Kumari's Ashram.

Santosh reconnected with his family, who thought he had died. They were overjoyed to see him again and at the end of March, picked him up and took him home. Like others, Santosh realizes he has a second chance in life and intends to make the most of it.

Thank you for helping Santosh!

Remember Siddartha? We found him in February 2025, unable to speak and just sitting by a park in Mysore, where the people he came to Mysore with had left him. Siddartha has lived with us since then, and has been silent since then. He participates in activities with the kids and is childlike himself. We still do not know where he is from or whether he has family, but he seems happy and and content. Siddartha has become part of our family.

Recently, Siddartha started talking, just a little, but enough to make us think he's getting more comfortable with us. Here, he's telling our boys how a small snake came to his room, and how he beat it then threw it out.

We found Babu in July 2025, sitting on a bench. It took a few visits before convincing him to go with us for a bath and doctor visit but he eventually came along. Then, he was diagnosed with tuberculosis and spent a month at the TB hospital, then a few months with us while he completed his medication.

Last month, Babu said he was ready to leave and wanted to go back to Goa, where he was the head cook at a restaurant. He was very grateful for your assistance with getting his health back, thank you for your support.

Remember Harish and his little brother Devaraj? They grew up at our children's home after years being homeless. From their early years to after high school, we watched them grow and get a good education. Then, Harish got a job at a large pharmacy in the city and learned a lot there.

Recently, Harish took the initiate and opened his own establishment in Mysore! We are very happy for him, and he's working hard to get it off the ground. If you are in need of medications, or just basic personal hygiene supplies (soap, etc.), please stop by and order from him. His store even delivers. See the photo for the contact information and location.
