Yet millions of disadvantaged children in shelter homes and orphanages across the country do not receive quality primary education and are denied a chance at a better future. Schools which do provide education in India prize rote learning over critical thinking and experience based learning. This makes for a great workforce, but prepares students poorly for leadership. JusTeach will try to address
these challenges through three distinct projects:
1) The Powerkid Program where we try to bridge the gap in educational opportunities by creating platforms in Bangalore and Mysore- bringing together qualified young volunteers with the time and commitment to teach subjects of their choice, local businesses willing to sponsor our project and disadvantaged children in orphanages outside .
2) The Young Leaders Program where JusTeach seeks to bridge this gap by creating a platform in where students from Colleges and Schools engage with volunteers and leaders working in NGO's and participate in policy dialogues and discussions on socially relevant issues, hands-on participation in community action projects, leadership training and youth exchanges.
3) Conducting Healthcare and Legal Awareness programs to empower people with knowledge. Our project seeks not only to build inculcate citizenship values in participants involved, we try and make sure this an incredible learning experience.
