Schools in the conventional sense probably kill more creativity than sustain or nurture it: Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success. Aligning learning outcomes keeping the social and emotional learning benefits in mind is paramount to educators and the presentation of such learning offerings presents the educational institution favourably amongst parents and higher education students.

All of us have multiple ways of learning and assimilating information. Howard Gardner observed this and theorised it in 'Theory of Multiple Intelligences'. A language idea can be understood by some of us musically, or a music idea can be understood or learnt by some of us with the use of our body (kinesthetically).

Dedicated to the oppressed and based on his own experience helping Brazilian adults to read and write, Paulo Freire includes a detailed Marxist class analysis in his exploration of the relationship between the colonizer and the colonized. In the book, Freire calls traditional pedagogy the "banking model of education" because it treats the student as an empty vessel to be filled with knowledge, like a piggy bank. He argues that pedagogy should instead treat the learner as a co-creator of knowledge.

As of 2000, the book had sold over 750,000 copies worldwide. It is the third most cited book in the social sciences.

The first principle of true teaching is that nothing can be taught. The teacher is not an instructor or taskmaster, he is a helper and guide. His business is to suggest and not to impose.

The distinction that reserves this principle for the teaching of adolescent and adult minds and denies its application to the child, is a conservative and unintelligent doctrine. Child or man, boy or girl, there is only one sound principle of good teaching.

Vedic Mathematics is a collection of ancient techniques to execute arithmetic operations quickly and more efficiently. Vedic Math comes from the Vedas, more specifically the Atharva Veda. Dr Nidhi Hande’s ‘Katyayana Subasutra: and Modern Mathematical Interpretations of its Sutras’ is a must read in this regard.

12 Feb is celebrated as ‘Darwin Day’, to highlight Charles Darwin’s contributions to science, and promote science in general. The constitution of India too highlights development of scientific temper as one of the fundamental duties of every citizen of India.
