The 5 Kerala Battalion NCC, Wayanad proudly participated in the 21st Arts and Sports Fest organized by the Excise Department of Kerala, held on October 17, 18, and 19, 2025. Cadets from WMO Arts and Science College, Muttil, and NMSM Govt College, Kalpetta, took part in the program. The NCC cadets reached the venue at 9:30 AM with great energy and enthusiasm. After the initial briefing, all cadets were assigned specific duties and carried them out with dedication, discipline, and commitment throughout the day.

The responsibilities undertaken by the cadets included gate duty, traffic control, ambulance assistance, media coordination, flag duty, track and field management, finishing point assistance, and list writing. Cadets were also assigned duties at GVHSS GOVT Kalpetta, where they assisted in organizing the arts competitions. They efficiently managed various athletic events such as long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, relay, and running events, ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the fest.

A total of *61 NCC cadets* participated in the program — 31 cadets from WMO Arts and Science College, Muttil, and 30 cadets from NMSM Govt College, Kalpetta. Among them, *18 SD cadets and 43 SW* cadets actively took part in the event. All cadets performed their assigned tasks with discipline, teamwork, and responsibility, upholding the true spirit of NCC.

The duties concluded at 5:30 PM, and the cadets left the venue with pride and satisfaction for being part of such a meaningful event. The NCC Sub Unit of WMO Arts and Science College, Muttil, exhibited exemplary discipline, teamwork, and leadership throughout the program. Their participation reflected the true values of the National Cadet Corps — unity, selfless service, and commitment to nation-building.

The NCC Sub-Unit of WMO Arts & Science College, Muttil, organised a rally within and around the college premises under the theme of the National Geospatial Mission (NGM).

The National Geospatial Mission (NGM) is an initiative of the Government of India aimed at developing, managing, and promoting the use of geospatial data, maps, and technologies for national development.

The programme commenced at 2:00 PM with a rally around the college premises to promote awareness of the importance of maintaining a sustainable environment and contributing to national development.

As part of the rally, a geographical mapping activity was also carried out under the framework of the National Geospatial Mission (NGM).

The event concluded at 3:30 PM, with 40 cadets actively participating. Their enthusiastic involvement demonstrated discipline, commitment, and respect for national values.

Through this initiative, the NCC Sub- Unit of WMO Arts & Science College showcased unity and active participation, highlighting the values of collective responsibility and community service, and inspiring others to take meaningful action towards environmental sustainability.

The NCC Sub Unit of WMO Arts & Science College, Muttil, organised the third and final enrollment for first-year students, with the aim of emphasising the importance of NCC in academics and future endeavours.

NCC has been introduced as a new UGC policy, offered as a three-credit value-added course in the four-year undergraduate programme. It can be completed in 2–3 years with credits awarded in the sixth semester, focusing on discipline, fitness, leadership, and practical training.

The enrollment was coordinated by ANO Lt. Santhosh Kumar C.G. and ANO Lt. Harsha Varghese.

The session started at 10:00 AM and included both a written and physical test to analyse the fitness of the students.The PI staff provided instructions to the participants, and their presence made the occasion more memorable.A total of 12 participants took part in the event with great enthusiasm.The NCC cadets highlighted the importance of being a cadet and actively engaged the participants. The enrollment session concluded at 1:30 PM. This initiative became a true achievement for the cadets.

The NCC Sub Unit of WMO Arts & Science College, Muttil, expressed their happiness at the active participation of students. NCC is not just about drill; it is a journey of self-discipline, leadership, and service to the nation. It shapes students into responsible citizens who value unity, courage, and dedication.

The NCC Sub Unit of WMO Arts & Science College, Muttil, organised an NCC workshop under the title “Lakshya ’25”. Through this programme, the cadets displayed what NCC is and what it stands for.

The chief guest of the programme was Lt Col Avikh Mukharjee, the Administrative Officer of 5 Kerala Battalion NCC, Wayanad. The event was coordinated by UO Salmanul Faris K.

The programme began at 9:30 AM, and the AO’s visit, along with piloting, made the occasion more graceful. He also gave valuable instructions to the cadets. Dr. Viji Paul, Principal of WMO Arts & Science College, Muttil, further graced the event with her presence.

The workshop included sessions on map reading, cadet achievements, rifles, obstacle training,Presentation about the NCC, and tent pitching, along with fun-filled games for the participants. The programme concluded at 4:00 PM with the distribution of gifts to the winners of the games.

A total of 44 cadets participated in the workshop. The programme was remarkable—not merely about grace marks, but about the efforts of the cadets, the knowledge they gained, and the joy they shared.

The NCC Sub Unit of WMO Arts & Science College, Muttil, truly showcased their dedication and highlighted the benefits of NCC through their actions. It reflected the discipline instilled by NCC. Being an NCC cadet is not an easy task—it demands commitment, courage, and consistency. It is a journey that shapes young minds into responsible leaders of tomorrow.

The NCC sub-unit of WMO Arts and Science College, Muttil, organised an enrollment programme for first-year students, aiming to instil unity and discipline among the new cadets.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Lt Harsha Varghese, with SUO Anatte Thomas serving as the programme coordinator.

The enrollment session began at 2:00 PM with an orientation session that introduced students to the aims, values, and opportunities of NCC, followed by a written test to assess their basic awareness and knowledge. It then continued with a physical test that included warm-up exercises and training routines. A total of 39 students participated enthusiastically, showcasing strong initiative and team spirit, and the event concluded at 4:00 PM.

The NCC-Sub unit of WMO Arts and Science College,Muttil, ensured a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the newly enrolled cadets. The event highlighted the core values of discipline, unity, and teamwork. Cadets actively participated and displayed great enthusiasm throughout. Overall, the programme marked a strong start to the cadets NCC journey.
