HISTORY AND ACTIVITIES OF HOUSHY KALA MANDIR
The Houshy Kala Mandir was formed on the auspicious occasion of the Independence day 1950 by Late Shri. Jayakar, Late Shri.Baburao M Dhurandhar and Late Shri Yeshwantrao A. The purpose was to bring together youth in the fields of Drama,Music and Sports. This is the only institution of its kind without a constitution operating for six decades. Houshy Ka
la Mandir provided a platform for it’s members and the people from the Pathare Prabhu community to present their skills in the field of Drama by enacting dramas of reknowned playwrights and performed by its members. It also gave opportunity to the people of Khar to hear famous vocalist like Gajanan Vatwe, Manik Verma and Anant Damle. The members of Houshy Kala Mandir performed dramas in aid of charity for organisation like Khar Residents Association, All India Womens Conference, SPCA and Bombay Suburban Social League.
