Through a quote given to Civics Journalist Richa Pinto The Times of India , we have asserted the need for relocation of any public infrastructure to another location and also emphasized that bandra reclamation being the exit and entry point to south mumbai & WEH will become a traffic catastrophe.

MNCDF Citizen Welfare Forum Founder Trivankumar Karnani quoted by Hindustan Times expressing his apprehension about the माझी Mumbai, आपली BMC cosmetic acts in an news article dated 12th Aug, 2026.

Full Quote:
Adv. Trivankumar Karnani, MNCDF Citizen Welfare Forum;

This is all a gimmick and a farce. We have complained about so many such spots, but nothing has been done about them.

The question is whether the BMC has a strong mechanism to maintain these spots even after claiming that they have been eliminated. Most of these Garbage Vulnerable Points have emerged outside slum areas. Does the BMC have a long-term plan to regularise garbage collection in these areas, just as it does for buildings?

In the absence of sustained measures and a proper collection mechanism, these spots will return to being garbage dumping points in no time.

The tragic demise of 11-year-old Vihaan Srivastava after a tree collapsed on his school bus in Chembur is a grim reminder of a warning that MNCDF has been raising for years: Blanket concretization is killing Mumbai’s trees from the roots up.

As reported by Diwakar Sharma in the Mumbai Mirror (Mumbai Mirror)

MNCDF Citizen Welfare Forum quoted:

👉 Urich Kamath (Co-Convener, MNCDF Citizen Welfare Forum) notes that citizens' alerts regarding hazardous, choked trees are continuously ignored by ward offices with zero ground action.

👉 Advocate Trivankumar Karnani (Founder, MNCDF Citizen Welfare Forum) calls it what it is—a clear case of culpable homicide due to dereliction of duty by authorities.

The contractors choking our trees with concrete must be stopped, and the officials turning a blind eye must be held accountable. No more bureaucratic excuses. It is the legal obligation of the civic administration to conduct inspection of all such Trees after concretisation on the concerned roads are completed which was not done.
