The first time we read about , six months back, we did not move on from it.
It was the news of nearly 60 children losing their lives due to lack of proper nutrition. We sat with that. Because these were not numbers. They were lives.
Over time, Melghat kept coming back into our conversations. We read, we asked questions, and eventually, we went there to see and understand for ourselves.
One question stayed with us throughout.
If we are working in nutrition, how can we not look at a place like this?
That is when we came across
What stood out immediately was that their team is from Melghat itself. People who understand the realities from within. There is a depth to that kind of work that cannot be replicated.
Recently, we hosted , co founder of Sadaya Foundation, along with his team member Ratan, at our kitchen. What was meant to be a two hour conversation felt much shorter.
There was a lot to share, and even more to learn.
Somewhere in that exchange, we began to see a shared intent. To work together, thoughtfully and responsibly.
Melghat is new for us. It will take time to understand and contribute meaningfully. But this felt like a beginning.
A first step.
And a shared belief that one day, together, SāmyaIndia and Sadaya Foundation can work towards ensuring that no child loses their life simply because they did not have access to proper nutrition.
