TURNING OPPORTUNITY INTO PROGRESS | RITA TAIDONG

Rita Taidong, an SHG member from Ramun Rachan, Old Changlang, has quietly built a path that reflects both courage and resilience. Her journey hasn’t been loud or dramatic, but every step she has taken carries a sense of determination that speaks for itself.
Last year, Rita received an AGEY loan of ₹3,50,000 from her PLF at 0% interest. Holding that approval letter in her hands, she felt a mix of relief and hope, finally, a chance to change her circumstances. With careful thought, she invested in a Tempo vehicle, unsure at first, yet willing to trust her instincts.
Today, when she drives through Old Changlang toward the bazar and nearby offices, she does so with a quiet pride. Villagers now rely on her for timely transportation, waving to her as she passes. The income she earns has eased her worries, helping her support her family with a sense of stability she once only hoped for.
Under BMMU Changlang, Rita isn’t just managing a vehicle, she is steering her life toward a direction she once hesitated to imagine. Her progress may seem simple, but to her family and her community, it feels significant and inspiring.
Rita’s story is a reminder that when women are given an opportunity, even a small one, they turn it into something meaningful, something that touches not just their own lives, but the lives around them.

A meeting was held at the residence of, GB New Yumchum organized by the Dept of Environment & Climate Change (Namdapha National Park & Tiger Reserve, Miao).

The Ranger forest Officer (RFO), Miao Wildlife Range, Namdapha Wildlife Range and Gandhigram Wildlife Range along with The GBs of New Yumchum, Kachang, Maithingpum, the Miao Singpho Ramma Hpung, Khachang-Maithingpum Youth Forum, New Yumchum Youth Association, New Age Learning Centre, Senior leaders - Sh. Phupla Singpho, Mrs. Bela Tikhak, Sh. Latgam Singpho and others attended.

Discussion regarding the upcoming 8th Edition Butterfly Festival scheduled on 26th, 27th and 28th November, 2025 at Kachang Village was held.

"The Department shall provide educational and logistical support for the locals if interested. Short Training programmes and other Micro Plans can be initiated for the villagers, generating not only experiences but a source of income for the locals " said, Biri Karba, RFO (Miao WLR).

"We want to encourage the locals, especially the youths to engage more in the safeguarding and understanding the flora and fauna around us " added, Son Yowa, RFO (Gandhigram WLR).

The meeting successfully concluded with a positive response from all the represtatives present.
