When the parents first heard about their children—their strengths, struggles, dreams, and little victories—they were taken aback. How could someone know so much about their kids? And more than that, how could someone care this deeply?
For a migrant parent, life is a relentless cycle of labor and survival. Days are spent carrying bricks, mixing cement, and building homes they will never live in. There is little time to pause, let alone wonder if anyone beyond their family sees their child, truly sees them.
But here, at Aahan’s newly opened Learning and Empowerment Centre in Noida, they found something unexpected. As they listened, emotions welled up—pride, relief, and a deep, unspoken gratitude. Someone was paying attention. Someone was fighting for their child’s future. And for the first time in a long time, they didn’t feel invisible.
We have been walking alongside the tribal youth of Jharkhand and the children of migrant and marginalized communities in Uttar Pradesh—adolescents and young adults who have known struggle far too early, whose childhoods have been shaped by hardship instead of play.
At Aahan, we strive to give them what every child deserves—a safe space where they can breathe freely, heal from trauma, and dare to dream beyond their circumstances. A place where laughter replaces fear, where hope takes root, and where they don’t just survive, but truly thrive.
