What is DEEDS? DEEDS, as the registered society, started in the year 1982 in Mangalore, Karnataka, engages itself training people with commitment to bring a change for a equitable society. The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Karwar, successfully hosted a two-day training workshop for 85 Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) on February 23–24, 2026, at the District Court. Inaugurated by Hon. Sri Parameshwara Prasanna B. (District & Sessions Judge), DLSA, U.K., Karwar), the program served as a vital platform to empower PLVs in their mission to bridge the gap between the judiciary and the grassroots . Expert sessions led by resource persons from DEEDS Mangaluru. Ms. Swathi, Ms. Priya, Ms. Geetha, and Mr. L.S. Fernandes—covered topics such as the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, the POSH Act, the Domestic Violence Act, and essential communication skills. With the esteemed presence of Hon. Sri Santosh Bhagwat, Hon. Smt. Divyashree C.M., and Sri Tukarama Ekkaru, this collaborative effort reinforces a shared commitment to accessible justice and community empowerment across Uttara Kannada.

Strengthening Support Systems for Women

On February 11, 2026, a Legal Consultation Meeting at ISD Hall, Mangaluru, brought together 52 representatives from DLSA, CWC, Childline, DCPU, Sakhi One Stop Center, CDPO, Santhwana Centre, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, PLFs, PLVs, and panel lawyers.

Ms. Diya, Mental Health Resource Person from the Department of Mental Health, led an insightful session highlighting the importance of accessible and timely mental health care. The Labour Commissioner shared key information on welfare schemes for labourers, promoting greater awareness and outreach.

A powerful role play by Marlyn Martis added meaningful perspective, helping participants better understand grassroots realities.

The program concluded with an interactive feedback session and vote of thanks, reaffirming our collective commitment to collaboration, empowerment, and stronger support systems.
