Savitri-Fatima Centre for Peer Learning was established before the COVID-19 crisis with the goal of providing academic support and educational upliftment of the children in our locality, Gabjore, Boudh, Odisha. We established this institution to provide quality education by giving an agency through peer learning to poor and marginalized children. We have witnessed that the lack of teachers in the
school is a big issue for the poor quality of education in the government primary and upper primary schools. A poor foundation in the primary and upper primary level leads to student dropout in the high school level. So, we believe creating a space for peer learning will give children an agency to cultivate their knowledge, which also helps to foster leadership quality and confidence among these children. We are motivated by the Phule-Ambedkar idea to promote education for community empowerment. The institution is dedicated to offering free after-school remedial coaching at the Primary and Upper Primary levels, through which we promote a culture of peer teaching and learning. The goal of this effort is to push for educational assistance for underprivileged children from the SC, ST, and OBC communities in order to expand their access to school and other educational opportunities.
