We extend a cordial invitation to all of you for the WAPR 5th – Asia Pacific Regional Conference to be held in Bengaluru, India from 6th to 8th, February 2015. The WAPR has been constantly endeavouring to provide scientific updates to professionals involved in the psychosocial management of mentally ill persons particularly rehabilitation care. To further this aim and to facilitate
discourse in the region of Asia and the Pacific the 5th WAPR Asia Pacific Regional Conference is being held at MS Ramaiah Medical College and Hospitals, Bengaluru, India. The Conference is being co-organised by MS Ramaiah Medical College, a premier privately run super speciality medical college and hospitals along with the Medico Pastoral Association (MPA). MPA is the first NGO in the country to have initiated care for rehabilitation of persons with mental illness in the year 1964 and is celebrating its Golden Jubilee Anniversary. The theme of the Conference is ‘Recovery and Beyond- Issues and Challenges in Asia – Pacific’, aptly chosen to inform on recent trends and advances. We hope to achieve a better understanding of the needs of the region. Bengaluru with a population of 8.4 million, India’s third most populous city is well known as the ‘Silicon Valley of India’ and ‘Garden city’ because of its role as the leading technology exporter and the presence of abundant greenery. It is also the hub of biotechnology in India and home to numerous educational and research institutions of national importance. Bengaluru also is the hub of health services. It has been a role model in the development of various health services across the country. The ready availability of trained manpower combined with a salubrious climate has made it a preferred investment destination and a major economic centre of India. Bengaluru enjoys pleasant weather at this time of the year. It is well connected by rail, road and air nationally and internationally. Bengaluru is close to various tourist destinations, places of religious and historical interest.We request your active participation and invite proposals for presentation of scientific papers, posters, symposia, workshops etc. We look forward to seeing you in Bengaluru.
