Sulabh International School for Action Sociology (SISAS) and Sociology of Sanitation, integrates the discipline of sociology with practical application, primarily addressing intersections between sanitation, human rights, and gender issues.

A newly constructed Sulabh Public Toilet Complex was inaugurated at Sector 6, GH-2, in the Gandhinagar Municipal area, in the gracious presence of several distinguished dignitaries.

The ceremony was led by Hon’ble Mayor of Gandhinagar, Smt. Meera Ben Patel. Dignitaries present included:
Shri Gaurang Bhai Vyas, Chairman, Standing Committee;
Shri Mahendra Bhai Das, Councillor;
Shri J. N. Vaghela, Municipal Commissioner, GMC;
Shri Jagannath Khasnis, Assistant Municipal Commissioner;
Shri J. M. Burania, Deputy Municipal Commissioner;
Shri Sandip Gohil, Assistant Director, GMC;
Shri Somchandran, Sanitation Superintendent, GMC;
and Ms. Yashoda Bidhuri, Boeing India.

The 10-seater facility has been thoughtfully designed with inclusive and gender-sensitive features, including sanitary pad vending machines, an incinerator for safe disposal, hand dryers, and a dedicated unit ensuring accessibility and dignity for specially-abled individuals.

This initiative has been made possible through the generous CSR support of Boeing India, reflecting a strong commitment towards improving public sanitation infrastructure and community well-being.

The construction and ongoing maintenance of the facility are being undertaken by the Sulabh International School of Action Sociology and Sociology of Sanitation, continuing its mission to promote hygiene, sanitation, and dignity for all.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Boeing India and the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation for their support and collaboration in making this initiative a reality for the people of Gandhinagar.

The Sanitation Club members celebrated with a series of meaningful and engaging activities aimed at promoting awareness about water conservation and hygiene. The celebration commenced with “Save Water” rallies, informative quiz conducted to enhance students’ knowledge.

Students also showcased their creativity by presenting self-composed group songs, painting competitions.

Additional activities such as wall mural painting, notice board preparation, and cleaning of water points were undertaken to reinforce the message of responsible water usage.

The celebration highlighted with the theme “Water and Gender Equality”, effectively promoting the importance of both water conservation and gender inclusivity.

These activities were a part of the project Aagaz 3.0 supported by Alkem Foundation.

The Sulabh Sanitation Club, with support from the Alkem Foundation, conducted an interactive WASH awareness workshop for girl students at PM Shri Girls Senior Secondary School, Deorali and Govt. Senior Secondary School, Assam Lingzey.

Facilitated by Mr. Rupak Roy Choudhury and Mrs. Samikshya Das Mohapatra from Sulabh, New Delhi, the session used games, group discussions, and creative activities to engage students on topics such as menstrual hygiene management, daily hygiene practices, proper handwashing, and the importance of maintaining school sanitation facilities.

Students actively explored real-life WASH challenges and even created games, jingles, and slogans promoting healthy habits like handwashing and proper waste management.

This initiative is part of Project Aagaz 3.0, a collaboration between the Education Department, Government of Sikkim, Alkem Foundation, and Sulabh Sanitation Club, aimed at strengthening WASH infrastructure and awareness in schools across Sikkim.

A delegation of journalists from Sikkim, led by Shri Dilli Ram Dulal and Shri Jagannath Dahal, visited the Sulabh Campus to learn about Sulabh’s pioneering work in sanitation, hygiene, and sustainable development.

During the visit, the delegation paid homage at the memorial of Padma Vibhushan awardee Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak, Founder of Sulabh International, and toured key facilities including the Sulabh International Museum of Toilets and the Biogas Plant, where human waste is converted into renewable energy.

The journalists were also introduced to Sulabh’s Pay-and-Use Public Toilet system and the Sulabh Water ATM, which provides safe and affordable drinking water.

The visit concluded with a discussion on proposed activities in Sikkim schools under Project Aagaz 3.0, aimed at strengthening WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) education in collaboration with the Education Department of Sikkim.

सिक्किम से पत्रकारों का एक दल सुलभ कैंपस घूमने आया। इस दल का नेतृत्व श्री दिल्ली राम दुलाल और श्री जगन्नाथ दाहाल ने किया। यहाँ आकर उन्होंने सुलभ के कामों को देखा और समझा – स्वच्छता, हाइजीन और पर्यावरण के क्षेत्र में सुलभ क्या कर रहा है।

इस दौरान पत्रकारों ने सुलभ संस्थापक स्वर्गीय डॉ. बिंदेश्वर पाठक मेमोरियल पर श्रद्धांजलि दी। उन्होंने सुलभ अंतर्राष्ट्रीय शौचालय संग्रहालय और बायोगैस प्लांट भी देखा जहाँ मानव मल से रिन्यूएबल एनर्जी बनाई जाती है।

पत्रकारों को सुलभ के पे-एंड-यूज़ शौचालय सिस्टम और सुलभ वॉटर एटीएम के बारे में भी बताया गया जो सस्ता और साफ पीने का पानी उपलब्ध कराता है।

अंत में, सिक्किम के स्कूलों में प्रोजेक्ट आगाज़ 3.0 के तहत होने वाली गतिविधियों पर चर्चा हुई। यह प्रोजेक्ट सिक्किम के शिक्षा विभाग के साथ मिलकर WASH (पानी, स्वच्छता और हाइजीन) शिक्षा को मजबूत करने पर काम करेगा।

Sulabh International School of Action Sociology and Sociology of Sanitation had the honour of hosting a senior delegation from Boeing at the Sulabh campus.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Kumar Dilip, President, Sulabh International, and Mrs. Nitya Pathak, Executive Convenor, along with senior Sulabh leadership and the enthusiastic students of Sulabh Public School.

Distinguished members of the delegation included:

During the visit, the delegation interacted closely with students, who proudly showcased innovative projects and ideas developed at the STEM Lab. The team appreciated the creativity, confidence, and problem-solving spirit of the young learners, applauding their commitment to innovation and learning.

The guests also explored the Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak Memorial, visited Sulabh’s Menstrual Hygiene Management Hub and toured the Sulabh International Museum of Toilets, including the newly inaugurated Toilet Tales gallery. The delegation further engaged with Women Self-Help Groups and enjoyed a vibrant cultural performance presented by the school students.

The visit strengthened a shared vision — combining education, dignity, and sustainable solutions to create lasting social impact. We thank the Boeing leadership for their continued partnership and encouragement to our students and communities.

Sulabh International School of Action Sociology & Sociology of Sanitation (SISASSS) conducted awareness sessions on hygiene, sanitation, menstrual health, safe drinking water, and nutrition in Amethi, across schools and community spaces in Shahgarh and Musafirkhana.

Organised in collaboration with Learning Links Foundation and conducted by Arunima Chauhan, the sessions engaged adolescent girls, parents, and community members through interactive discussions and practical learning. A health and hygiene handbook was also distributed to reinforce key messages and support continued healthy practices at home.

NIESBUD, in partnership with Sulabh International, has launched a five-day Advanced Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme on Biogas, Compressed Bio Gas and Waste-to-Energy, from 8–12 December 2025. The programme has brought together 20 enthusiastic participants who are eager to explore innovative opportunities in green energy and sustainable entrepreneurship.
