NHSO joined Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs) from across Kenya at a powerful conference convened under the Project supported by FIDA-Kenya.
Powerful conversations on enhancing the capacity and effectiveness of WROs in advancing gender equality were held during the three-day conference. Discussions explored strategies to mitigate community interference in efforts to eliminate GBV against women and girls, while strengthening reporting mechanisms in response to the rising cases of technologically facilitated GBV (TFGBV) and femicide.
Participants also reflected on progress made in strengthening women’s participation in governance and addressing digital threats such as doxxing, cyberstalking, cyberbullying, sextortion, blackmail, non-consensual dissemination of intimate images and online harassment. The discussions further revisited Kenya’s legal framework that protects women and girls including the Constitution of Kenya, the Bill of Rights and the right to privacy and special protections.
Together, we are shaping stronger systems to protect women and girls, advance justice and create a safe, inclusive environment for women to thrive in governance and leadership.
