And today, we experienced exactly that. ✨

Under our heartwarming initiative Smile Street, 700 children received ₹1,000/- shopping coupons, allowing them to experience the joy of choice — the thrill of selecting something special on their own.

But the most precious gift was the glow in their eyes — the sense of confidence, dignity, and happiness of having a choice. 💛

This celebration of compassion was made possible through:

A vaccination camp was organized on Wednesday at Khayadah High School in South 24 Parganas for girl students to protect them against cervical cancer (uterine cancer). Around the world, this cancer has taken on a frightening proportion, and a vaccine has been developed to prevent it.

The headmaster of the school and local social worker Md. Alamgir Sheikh requested the Rotary Club to provide this vaccine free of cost to the girl students of his school as well as to nearby primary school girls. Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar accepted that request. With the support of the Indian Humanity Foundation and the Cancer Patients Aid Association, the camp was organized at Khayadah High School.

Approximately 500 students received the HPV vaccine free of cost. This vaccine is given to girls aged 9 to 18. Authorities said this vaccine is essential for prevention and awareness.

Apart from Khayadah High School, students from three other schools also received the vaccine:
• St. Joseph’s School (Kolkata)
• Rotary Vivekananda School (Koltali)
• Khayadah High Madrasah
• Several girls from the Banabala Adivasi village

A spokesperson of Rotary Club of Calcutta Mahanagar said, “Our goal is to spread awareness about preventing cervical cancer among teenage girls and ensure timely vaccination.”

Authorities mentioned that bringing students from five different schools in South 24 Parganas to this camp was a great success and a major achievement.
